Yeah, you do not want to tear up new ground w/ a front tine tiller; it's hard enough w/ the rear tine one.. I have had both over the past nearly 40 years, and I much prefer the front tine tillers for use in my small garden(s).

Also think about the area you need to till. My garden is on the smaller side with fencing and it would be hard to till many areas with the rear tine.

Have had a small electric one for about 10 years, this will be a great replacement. Electric one works fine for what it is, but jumps a lot.
