I have the red 5.5 quart one, and I use it at least once a week. It is an incredibly product and has been very reliable.

I can't reccomend it enough.

If you can afford Le Creuset it's obviously the best, but this really is the best one in the affordable range in my opinion.

The bottom is flat and wide, not sloped and graded. It holds heat well!
At some point, regardless of how meticulously you clean it, enamel will end up with some patina from regular, loving use. Embrace it.

You want the Chicken Fryer. It has a black interior and is shallow enough that the steak won't steam.

Le Creuset has a really bad warranty system. You get 1 replacement, in your lifetime. I have heard others never got defective pots replaced. I bought 3 pots and 2 were defective. I will not buy their products, it is not like they used to be; not worth the price. The other brands are just as good.

Wrong tool for the job. I would use cast iron or Carbon Steel. You will want very high heat and that is not best for enamel.

Unsure about others but oval dishes are not good at cooking evenly and are a challenge. (probably why they are on discount) All the cooking shows talk about staying away unless you are doing a casserole and even then it cooks unevenly.

In for the 5.5qt dutch oven. Just getting into sourdough baking, so perfect timing! Price is better than 50% off Amazon, so why not?

Is it circular or an oval shape? I can't tell from the photos and the description doesn't say.
