Am I the only one that thinks we're dealing with 'frog in hot water' syndrome here? How is it that we have to jump through so many hoops just to keep from getting gouged just to end up with a tremendous 10mbps upload.

Most other countries and even other Americans don't have to deal with this nonsense.

It's almost cheaper and faster to literally get your internet from outer space now.
Please post that SlickDeal when it comes along.

That speed is amazing. Is it T-Mobile? What is that small box with antennas? It is different from the modem I got from T-Mobile.
yes thats Tmobile [$25/mo TMHI w/ $100GC and $50GC for switching)
The savings was diverted to hardwear - aftermarket modem+router ($250)

Did prices go up in the last year? I was on the 1.2gbps plan for $50/month with no data cap and the free gateway (2year plan) and then combined with the affordability $30/month credit, I've been only paying only $20/month. I think I have 9months left in contract. I guess it'll be a rude awakening when the contract expires.

Edit: Forgot I also get discount for having xfinity mobile. Forgot how much though

Xfinity is the fastest in my area. Fiber is moving in very slow so I have no other competitive options.

Every year I call or online chat with xfinity to get a cheaper plan. Sometimes the first rep will give you a great deal. Other times I have to keep trying. Waste of time, but it saves money.

I'm all for "right-size" internet like a non-tech friend 4yrs ago he has gig internet and I asked him what he uses it for and he was unable to explain it (he didn't even have a 4K TV). Fast forward, his kids are grown up and he just hit the xfinity 1.2TB monthly cap for the first time.

TL;DR technology moves fast. If you but a few cameras to monitor your home, a few smart devices, kids streaming 4K content on multiple devices, if you WFH and doing video skypes all day long, and if you have some sort of web based backup service for your important data nightly, etc.....it helps to have more bandwidth. I have dropped from 700Mbps to 400Mbps recently and with my own equipment, I'm still getting about 500Mbps+ on down with Xfinity and it's perfectly fine for our needs at home except for the uploads. I can't imagine going back down to 75Mbps which at best may get you under 100Mbps except for basic web surfing and at most single HD streaming.
Same as my friend. Years ago, I forgot the advertised speed, but he would pay over $100 for top tier speed from time warner. He couldnt elaborate on what workload he needs that kind of speed for. Most of the time, all he does is fownloading torrent porn, which crawls at the speed of 200-500 kb/s 😑 people just want to throw their money away.

Swap names with someone that lives with you. If it's in your name now, switch it to the other person's name. You can probably do it online or if you have to call in just have them say they are the new renter.

Yes, it only means they lock you into that price for 2 years, without risk of increase. You can cancel anytime. If a better deal came along, I could switch to it I presume.
even that's mostly BS though. I've had plenty of those promos in the past and they rate hike in January. And I call and they say:

"You see the only part that's price locked is the base service, the speed increase package is not part of that so the price of that might fluctuate."

So be aware although all signs point to you having the same monthly bill over 2 years, it doesn't play out like that.

Usually nothing for existing customers.

Cancel your service now, sign up for this deal under a different name (someone else that lives with you)

That's how I've gotten yearly deals
kindly to share your experience

How long the process between cancelling existing service and new service sign up activation? I ask this because I assume when you cancel existing service then you out of internet right away then you need to sign up and wait for activation?

Do you need to get new cable modem or you can use existing modem for new service sign up?

Thank you in advance.

I think you normally have each statement till end of month so you can set last day of service until then and start new order with new account. If you use your own equipment the transition should be seamless otherwise you may have to return old equipment and wait for new one.
