Xfinity pricing is always based on the fact how much people can spend in their service area + how many other competitors are there. So lot of YMMV.

Most other countries and even other Americans don't have to deal with this nonsense.
It's almost cheaper and faster to literally get your internet from outer space now.
The savings was diverted to hardwear - aftermarket modem+router ($250)
Edit: Forgot I also get discount for having xfinity mobile. Forgot how much though
Every year I call or online chat with xfinity to get a cheaper plan. Sometimes the first rep will give you a great deal. Other times I have to keep trying. Waste of time, but it saves money.
TL;DR technology moves fast. If you but a few cameras to monitor your home, a few smart devices, kids streaming 4K content on multiple devices, if you WFH and doing video skypes all day long, and if you have some sort of web based backup service for your important data nightly, etc.....it helps to have more bandwidth. I have dropped from 700Mbps to 400Mbps recently and with my own equipment, I'm still getting about 500Mbps+ on down with Xfinity and it's perfectly fine for our needs at home except for the uploads. I can't imagine going back down to 75Mbps which at best may get you under 100Mbps except for basic web surfing and at most single HD streaming.

So be aware although all signs point to you having the same monthly bill over 2 years, it doesn't play out like that.

How long the process between cancelling existing service and new service sign up activation? I ask this because I assume when you cancel existing service then you out of internet right away then you need to sign up and wait for activation?
Do you need to get new cable modem or you can use existing modem for new service sign up?
