Usually nothing for existing customers.

Cancel your service now, sign up for this deal under a different name (someone else that lives with you)

That's how I've gotten yearly deals

On Gigabit tier $70 a month with Autopay from checking. Everytime my offer runs out, something or other works out with Xfinity. If one CS doesn't help, disconnect and call again. Doing this since 10+ years. I have Verizon available in my area as well which is tad cheaper on gigabit tier, but I keep Xfinity.

Xfinity pricing is always based on the fact how much people can spend in their service area + how many other competitors are there. So lot of YMMV.

Yes, it only means they lock you into that price for 2 years, without risk of increase. You can cancel anytime. If a better deal came along, I could switch to it I presume.

Dang, no change in prices for my location, still $75 a month for gig speed in the Seattle area. Seems to be a YMMV.
Yup. I just signed up in June for $40 / 400mbps with my own modem, and back then they wanted to charge $10 for unlimited data with their xfi modem. Now they increased the unlimited/modem charge to $15. Or as a new customer, the new deal is $55 for unlimited 400mbps. Both pricing have the $10 discount from paperless/autopay applied already so it's actually more expensive in my case. What a pos...

If you are already with them. check the speed you are getting. Upgrading to higher plan often does not mean higher speed. It did not happen in our case. YMMV
Depends on how you measure your speed. Can't do it via wifi, has to be direct connected at the modem.

If you are paying for anything up to 999mbps, you should be getting that most of the time (in times of congestion, it may go down but it should be 100mbps whereas you pay for 800mbps).

If you're paying for more than 1gbps, if you don't have a +1gbps modem/router, you won't see speeds higher than 1gbps.

But if you have 800mbps and aren't getting it at the modem, contact them and see what the issue is. Could be wiring, could be provisioning, too many variables but only they can fix.

Do you have any experience with TMobile Home internet? I'm wondering if I should switch once comcast starts up the price creep again after my 2 years is up
Try it out, 100%. 15 days for free. I moved my parents from Spectrum at $90 a month to TMO home for $50 a month and it's been almost a year. Perfectly happy and they use YTTV as their main TV and no issues, stream on phones and normal computer stuff. No crazy cloud backups but even so it is much faster than Spectrum upload was 5 Mbps here it is 50-70. I speed test around 150/70 speed which is more than enough for the two of them in the house and they are really only using 1-2 streams at a time. Since its M2M you can always switch and probably get "new" customer deals. If you are expecting gig speeds, move on. You can always use them as a threat tho...

My brother tried the Dish one, couldnt get over 2 Mbps, they are a mess right now. So YMMV I would say definately try it out hard.

I have two fiber providers, cable (Spectrum) and TMO so I only pay $39.95 for fiber no caps. Competition works--so these companies coming in are great.

400 Mbps is 50 MBps of DLing. If you have a large household where the kids are watching streams.. playing games.. You want a larger bandwidth to accommodate everyone without things slowing down. With several adults and kids under one household, we want more than just 200 Mbps, hence at least 400 Mbps.
This is why people overpay for internet.

The average UHD stream is 15 Mbps. So 4 people stream UHD is 60 Mbps. OK say you have TEN people streaming UHD 4k that is 150 Mbps. Gaming does not use a lot of data it is latency sensitive so a 200 Mbps link has the same latency as a 400 Mbps link.

The only killer is game downloads. So do you want to wait 10 min or 20 min to download a game. I guess the few extra hundred bucks is up to you.

I run a business out of my house have crazy streaming kids and game downloads and according to my commercial router (I have 300/300) I went to the max DL average is less than 10 minutes a month.

I tell everyone w/ gig around here save the $40 and move to 300 and you wont even notice. BUT of course that is an individual decision.

UL is the killer for cable it is anemic for now, but w/ Docsis 4 they may get up to speed w/ fiber and that is great for cloud apps.

No thanks. Xfinity fee creep over those 24 months can be expected. It wont really be $50 once those snakes sneak in fees.

If you have tmobile home internet avaipable and performance in your area is good, go with that.

Is Comcast astroturfing this thread? There are far too many bootlicking comments in here that make absolutely no sense from a consumer standpoint:

"Who even needs these speeds?"

Literally everyone who consumes media via streaming services in a multi-user household, plays video games (the average game download is around 100GB), or works from home.

"Who needs unlimited data? Data caps aren't an issue."

Think of it this way. If your state restricted how many miles you could travel on the highway every month, wouldn't you raise an eyebrow? Now couple that with the idea that you're allowed unlimited miles if and only if you drive a car they assign to you, which is largely underpowered, restricted, and they have enhanced abilities to monitor you at all times. With Xfinity, you only get unlimited data if you use their terrible, invasive hardware or pay extra (in some regions, they even force you to go to a business plan).

When you couple that with the knowledge that the only reason Xfinity is allowed to do this to begin with is because the former corrupt FCC Chairman, Ajit Pai, is a corporate lapdog who gave telecoms a bunch of overreaching power to abuse the consumer and exploit their data in ways you may not even be aware of, none of this should sit right with you.

Comcast was given a ton of money to expand broadband access and they pocketed it.

So even if you're in the small (minded) minority who think the fastest speeds possible without data caps are more than you need, that doesn't mean it applies to everyone. And it certainly isn't going to break the infrastructure like they always claim. It's just about control and profit for them.

as long as you have your own modem it will. I just had internet through them where it stayed the advertised price all through the deal (went up after 12 months, but it told that in my terms).

Because I don't need to buy a new modem. If you do not remove the MAC address from the old modem, Xfinity will say the modem is still registered to the canceled account.

What options are there for existing customers?
I moved to Verizon 5G and it has been solid - around 350MB/s down and 20-30 MB/s upload, no data cap for $50 monthly for non-Verizon customer. The funny thing is that the 5G modem is a small cube with an integrated WiFi router - you can take it with you if you travel and stay/work somewhere else than home. My previous Comcast was 600MB/s plan and the Verizon feels faster, especially for video streaming app response.
Also, during black outs Comcast hubs may stay without electricity but the cell towers usually have backups and keep running Smilie Smilie I will not bother with Comcast anytime soon, if ever.
The 5G is definitely the future, and if AT&T joins the T-Mobile and Verizon, Comcast goes the way of the dodo.

They have done enough sneaky things where it's not even viable to have your own modem anymore.

I was paying for 1Gb and they "generously" upgraded me to 1.2Gb.

What they don't tell you is that in doing so, your modem is no longer on the "supported" list and they won't provision it correctly. My only two options were shell out another $180 for a supported modem or downgrade my speed for only $10 less a month.

When you add to that the fact that they gouge for unlimited when you use your own hardware, it's just disgusting all around.
