Based on that quote, I think pure sine wave inverter is more applicable to appliances that require a fan to dissipate heat. For example, if using modified sine wave inverter on a fridge, the fan would not run as intended (due to inefficient energy transfer) leading to poor heat dissipation > heat buildup > damaged fridge. So I don't think using this item would damage your fan. I'm assuming the fan just won't run as fast or may have some sudden pauses?? I'm speculating here. I could be wrong.
