A blast from the past. Good option for those who can't make use of a wireless router/adapter/device.

Cheap and easy way to expand network coverage to areas you usually would have to run cable to, its very stable in most cases, and works well with proper expectations. They are even making the adapters now with built in wifi but I only seen AC wifi currently which adds more value for some.

The downsides, I never seen any of these guys even in a perfect setup get over 200Mbps, so if your expecting more speed dont. I have not tested or playied with the latest and greatest versions of these plugs. I know some people were luckier than I and have achieved around 350-400Mbps with their setups which is pretty great.

Also the speed gets effected by factors such as how long of a electrical run you have, and also how new your wiring is.

As mentioned has to be on the same circuit to work properly if not you have to daisy chain circuits, which would require multiple sets of these. When you jump circuits it would lower performance a lot more. So proper expectations.

To put things into perspective the most demanding thing anyone can do on their internet connection that's a home user is stream 4K content and that requires about a 40-50Mbps connection on average to the single device. If your gaming, that requires barely anything, same thing for streaming 1080p content, or music.

They do not, they inject a signal to ride along the electrical current, that signal is what carries internet to the other receiving device before its converted back into Ethernet.

Yep - if your house is wired for coax then moca is much more effective - you can grab cheap Frontier adapters for a little more than this off of ebay.

From my own use, these typically don't do high speeds that well. In most cases you're better off getting a WiFi 6 router or extender with a ethernet port

Use MOCA adapters instead that run over coax. Way better.

I purchased like a few pairs of them and none worked more than one year for me.
Technology may have evolved these days though.

So by "same circuit" - it won't work across breakers in the same breaker panel? Obviously being on the same literal electrical line is great, but if i'm trying to get internet to a bedroom in 1 corner of the house, it's not very likely to be on the same breaker as outlets in the other side of the house.

I always thought it would work within a breaker panel, so typically a whole house.

It works across breakers but slower.

I'm on same circuit and get >=300/300 out of the box but 300/300 is the max of my FIOS so actual intranet speeds could be higher.

Wi-Fi speed to internet on same machine is around 200.

Both are more than adequate for streaming but I hooked it up so that file transfers to/from NAS are quicker.
