From Amazon:

"For adults, take two (2) capsules daily, preferably with a meal. Capsules can be opened and the contents added to your favorite beverage or food."

"It all goes to the same place" as my mother used to say.

As for what's in the capsules:

https://naturesbounty.com/product...0-capsules

500mg cinnamon (Cinnamomum burmannii)
375mg Cinnamon Extract (Cinnamomum spp.) (bark) (a 4:1 Extract, equivalent to 1,500 mg of Cinnamon)

Note that this isn't the "good" cinnamon (ceylon). That tends to be much more $$ - this one on Amazon [amazon.com](though you can buy in even bigger bulk and save more $$) is $0.044/g

Let's see how much bulk cinnamon costs - about $5.20 for7.12oz @ Amazon [amazon.com], which is about 200g or $0.0356/g. Note that McCormick doesn't say what type of cinnamon this is but it's likely not ceylon.

If you trust what the supplement says regarding "equivalence" then their product boils down to 2g equivalent (per 2 capsules) which is $0.025/g. That product also has chromium in it.

Apparently 2g of cinnamon powder is just ~ 3/4 tsp. If it were me, I'd just find a way to stash that into my diet rather than taking pills. The 18oz mega tub of McCormick cinnamon on Amazon is $13.15 for 18 oz which is $0.0258/g, just barely more expensive per gram than these capsules.

The best I can find is that there is some reasonable consensus that cinnamon (depending on the type) can impact insulin/blood glucose/etc but apparently the type of cinnamon used here tends to have a lot of coumarin, which is bad for your liver. Apparently coumarin isn't water soluble, but the diabetes-"fighting" components are, so it seems many people just add cinnamon to their coffee grounds as the coffee is brewed.

That's really interesting! I've been doing some dream-hacking for the past few years:

1. I grew up either with night terrors or else didn't dream at all. Turned out I had undiagnosed sleep apnea (got a mask) & histamine intolerance (needed an enzyme supplement, turns out like 80% of people with ADHD have it, as it causes brain fog etc. lol). The sleep mask got rid of my bad dreams (apparently not breathing while sleeping makes you have crazy dreams lol). The histamine got rid of my insomnia, RLS, bounding pulse, intrusive thoughts, nighttime anxiety, and waking up at night & not being able to go back to sleep:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Histamin...&context=3

2. So at that point, I no longer had my lifelong insomnia, but I just didn't really dream at all or remember my dreams. Then one day, I had a GOOD dream! I had probably half a dozen good dreams growing up in my LIFE, so that was RARE! As it turned out, I had had some walnuts before bed & that had triggered it! Pecans work too, not so much for other ones:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Anxiety/...od_dreams/

3. Then I tried narrowing down whatever my body was missing to generate good dreams. The most effective one was a vegan Omega 3/6/9 pill, although it was only 50% as effect as actual walnuts before bed on an empty stomach: (I still don't know the mechanism for this, but it works for me!)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EVITLHE/

4. So mostly I just stick with the raw walnuts before bed & it works pretty good specifically for triggering (1) good dreams, that (2) I remember! Then I've been trying different supplements over the last year to see if anything else contributes to that nighttime game. A month ago, I got the cinnamon capsules in the OP, and it's only the second thing after walnuts to affect my dreams...it makes the stories in my dreams COMPLEX! Like I get a whole story with a plot & everything haha! Which is fun because I have Aphantasia (I can't visualize in my mind, only conceptualize), but I can visualize at night in my dreams:

https://www.reddit.com/r/kaidomac..._thinking/

So it's really interesting that cinnamon gives you nightmares, because (1) my CPAP eliminated my night terrors, (2) my histamine treatment eliminated my bedtime anxiety & intrusive thoughts (i.e. remembering every cringy thing I ever did in my entire life lol), (3) a handful of raw walnuts on an empty stomach before bed gave me positive, visual dreams, and (4) cinnamon pills gave me more complex dreams with detailed storylines.

I still have no ability to lucid dream or otherwise control my dreams, and because of my waking aphantasia, I can't visualize during the daytime like I can when I'm dreaming, but it's sure nice not to have nightmares anymore & it's nice to have dreams, GOOD dreams, and also complex dreams now! I still have no clue what like vitamins or minerals my body is missing that triggers this stuff to happen, but I've been tracking it for the past couple of years & have a nice little system going, so I'm sorry to hear that you get the opposite reaction on cinnamon!!

I don't see why people can't get the same benefits from eating a pinch of cinnamon from the one in the spice rack

Take advantage of that. You can write a horror book. A lot stories by authors come in their dreams/nightmares.

Ha! Good idea but I prefer to skip the cinnamon and get good night sleep.

Looks like the coupon only works for 1 bottle. I tried adding 3 to my cart, it only discounted one.
