In summary, for an extra $150 you get 50% (4 additional) more cpu cores, an all around better motherboard with the extreme chipset (meaning it has both a pcie gen5 nvme and a pcie gen5 x16 slot, the msi board doesn't support pcie gen5 at all), and an extra 32GB (for a total of 64gb) of ram which is of superior speed, being cl30 as opposed to cl36 and having superior hynix memory chips as opposed to the much worse samsung chips. Additionally, and perhaps most importantly, while I don't think many people need 64gb of ram, I just flat out don't trust the ram in the 7700x bundle. The model of ram included with the 7700x bundle has 26 one star reviews out of 107 total reviews. Any product that has 24.3% of its reviews being one star is highly suspect in my mind. It's possible there has since been a bios update that has corrected any issues with that ram, but I consider the peace of mind of getting a different ram with higher quality memory chips to be worth a decent premium.
Edit: Since I forgot to mention this earlier and haven't really seen anyone talk about it:
As per the terms set forth in table A of the Q3 2023 AMD Starfield Game Bundle Promotion terms and conditions; the 7900x bundle comes with a code for a free copy of Starfield Premium edition, while this 7700x bundle comes with a code for a free copy of Starfield Standard edition.
Also, for anyone interested in more information about the differences in the ram (since this initial post is light on detail), both my original post of the 7900x bundle deal itself and some of my later posts in the 7900x bundle deal thread provide some additional information and context.
The ram is slightly better, but I'd also rather spend the $150 on GPU rather than more and slightly better memory - better use of money.
I agree the MSI mobo looks like trash though.

It's a highly anticipated title by Bethesda. Makes for a good deal if you were already planning on buying it. If you've never heard of it? Well, not that much of a bonus. still, these MC bundles can be really, really good if you have reasonable access to them.
edit: also, these are hardware linked, so it's not like you could just sell it to anyone to save the few bucks.

None of that will make a lick of difference in gaming. Sure if you do other work it will be great, but I went with the 7700x since I just plan on gaming.
They'll make you return it, you won't be able to price match
I'll be honest I didn't notice MC upgraded the RAM in that deal, the faster timings would have a marginal impact on gaming even if the 7900x was 1% slower in FPS. But if you're only gaming, it's absolutely not worth 38% more.
Considering the consistent price drops and bundle upgrades, I wonder if there's more to come in the next couple months. They probably anticipate the X3D chips to tank sales of standard X chips, they might be desperate to clear inventory.
