good price on these rods. i don't like where their hook keepers are, but that's mostly personal preference.

Bought a M and MH last time this deal came up. There is a big diff between the two as far as hook set strength. My only advice is purchase the stiffness based on what lures you use mostly. Had I realized I would have done MH for both. Very happy with weight and performance and don't have anything bad to say about this rod.

Thanks in advance for your time and help! I am new to bass/carp/trout freshwater fishing.

My gut says the price/quality ratios are pretty comparable between the two, so i'd go with the price point you're more comfortable with? One thing to be aware of is that the Lews are all 1 piece rods, I believe, which makes it really hard to fit them in my Civic. The Ugly Stiks are usually 2 piece.

ugly sticks have a great reputation for durability. its a great starter rod very hard to break and takes a lot of abuse.

however they are pretty insensitive rods and casting can suck with them. but i think that's all good because it makes you appreciate the upgrade more when the time comes.

the lews rod here feels much better for casting and is more sensitive.

I just got into fishing a couple of years ago and my main bass rod is an ugly stik carbon spinning medium/fast. Walmart had them on sale for $40 last year so grabbed a couple. I really like it and it's much more sensitive than the ugly stik gx2 that I started on. Caught my PB of 7.2lbs on it.

I've been waiting for a sale on the ugly stik carbon medium heavy/fast rods. Would this rod be better than the ugly stik carbon rods to fill my medium heavy needs?

Right now I'm using a kastking perigee 2 for my medium heavy.

This is a great rod for drop shot perch fishing in 10-40 feet of water. I have way more expensive rods, but for drop-shot perch fishing I have not found anything better. I just got another one earlier this summer for this fall perch-season. I pair it with a 6.2:1 ratio reel running #15 4x braid to a 10# floro leader. The rod provides enough sensitivity to detect a nibble, but has a strong backbone to set the hook and bring up 15 inch perch. I've also caught 20+ inch small mouth and medium size walleye on it with no issue.

Considering the cost and how well it performs Id give it 6 stars if possible.

Which rod would be best for BM bass or Sm bass. Should I get a fast setup or moderate to fast? Is this rod and reel a good combination for bass fishing or what types of fishing is this best for? Beginner angler here!
