I've gotten several. They go from nearly new to used but nearly perfect.
I suppose you could get an old heavily used one, but with Magician you can find that out quickly and return it.
OTOH, it is not a fantastic price for a used EVO+. I got a brand new 980 PRO for $50. You can get the SK hynix Gold P31 1TB for $50, probably a slightly better Gen 3 drive, especially for a laptop where power use and heat is an issue.

While I'm normally a fan of refurbs I purchased 2 of the 960's from Bestbuy and both had major issues...one had obviously been swapped with the one that was in the box because it exceeded the expected lifetime of hours...the other SAID it had only been used around 1000 hours but SMART was failing it. SSD's are so cheap now it's worth spending a little more for new. As you mentioned a 1TB Hynix is currently going for $50 and was $65 just a month ago....there is another on frontage that is a 1TB Gen 4 for $40 with a $10 rebate bringing it down to $30 (the rebate can be submitted ONLINE and does not require mailing it in). There is a Solidigm 2TB that is $70 and there was an Intel 2Tb one just recently for $65. Plenty of better options.
