Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS III USM Lens (New, Not Refurbished) 20% Off Canon Discount $1,679, YMMV $1561

Canon has dropped their pricing with a rare 20% off sale for this legendary L series lens, probably as they try to push out the R series lens. For me this is perfect for both may 5D Mark IV and ma R5 with EF adapter. It's heavy, but the optics are legendary. I paired this with the 4 year CarePak Plus after I busted a lens accidentally once, and then also picked up a B+W 77 mm filter for it, enjoy!

There's 5% cashback up to $50, or 2.5% cashback (which would be less) if you look around that stacks on top of all this

Very good deal, even lower than the last refurb one that I tempted to jump on. In for one. Thanks!

Excellent lens, got the ver. II back in 2011 for $1874, heavy yes but totally worth it. Add the B+W 77 mm filter, wont regret it.

I'm assuming optically the 70-200 RF L lens is better for my R5?

maybe, but its up to you if that extra 2-3% of "optical performance" (only noticeable if you view at 200%, not on any print) is worth the extra $1000. for that price you can buy a couple lights and improve your OCF game instead. or if you're an event shooter you can use that money to invest in a marketing course or something like that.

From a photo noob who just has a T7i and shoots more videos than photos, how exactly does this produce better quality? Is it resolution and clarity per pixel or does it do some other magic that "most people" can notice on the screen? Some say better bokeh but how good can a bokeh get?

Sadly Canon has decided to go away from their EF line and now if I want a newer body I've gotta use converters. Using an EOS-M 200F with this lens is stunning but looks funny as all get out.

much better optical design resulting in less imperfections in the image. a lens of this caliber also has better coating and stuff resulting in more consistent color and it resists flaring more. also, the constant 2.8 aperture is really nice compared to other, cheaper zooms. for video, the autofocus would be better on your t7i compared to say... the 75-300. also the focus ring is better and it has IS.

however, if you're a hobbyist and you don't find yourself shooting in challenging and critical situations, you'll never be able to justify buying this lens unless you got the money to blow.

to answer your questions tho, this lens itself probably wont give someone a magic "look" outside of making the background a little blurrier in video. you'll get better results learning how to light properly

Thanks.... Can you define or give an example of a "critical situation"? Would this make low level lighting situations much better in results?

Probably why the EF is getting discounted, but I just use the RF mount converter for all my EF lenses, maybe there's some degradation, but before Canon gets R lenses out for everything, I'm just using my EF lenses, the R5 AF being so tack sharp will help negate any optical degredation.

You can just sign up for an account. It's a company that provide employee discounts, but they are not affiliate with the employer. Here's Mayo Clinic's for example, just "Create Your Account" with your personal information, there is no verification and actually a disclaimer that perkspot has nothing to do with mayo clinic. Once you're in just search for Canon:
