Have someone else signup (spouse, significant other) and put them as primary and yourself as secondary (domestic) and it will work. As long as the primary hasn't had a membership recently.

Edit. That was done via Costco. Idk how it works if you buy with Groupon. How the refunds work

Chatted to Costco online and they told me I can tie a new membership to the existing CC. Might be worth doing after all. Just one thing to consider now - how/does it impact my Exec rewards? I assume that the best move for me would be to hold off on using the Groupon until the last day of validity so that I could max out this year's cashback?
