Fares are around 1.5 to 2.0x what they were last week for the segment we booked for late august. Maybe there are deals out there, but for our trip it looks more like a shell game. Might be entertaining to see if fares reduce again on Aug 4th.

SW is beating around the bush with complex sale deals. Ultimately, if you actually calculate you are pretty much spending the same. The only good deal was when had 50% any flight.

Sounds like it, but unless you get a full refund and not flight credit, I'm not sure it will work.

LOL thanks for giving us 2 days to decide on a flight that needs to be taken before 9/30. (Not a dig at the OP, but Southwest). At least make this promotion more enticing by giving us longer leeway for booking.

Pretty good deal, especially if you are stacking the Southwest gift card you can get from Costco for $450 ($500 value), and is often on sale for $420.

I wonder if this would work on the purchase of two round trip tickets, or if it is only off one ticket--one way or round.
Useless if it is the later.

Honestly, it is too complicated. Its like you are paying the extra up front for them to give it back to you later.

Yep. Nothing special here. Just hoops and loops to get you to book and fly now at non-sale rates only to book later when flights will probably be sold at non-sale rates for 50% off. Everyone is probably better off waiting till those winter fares go on sale like they always do.

You can always cancel and rebook with flight credits if fare goes down.

I already had a need for a cheap flight in Sep (OAK->SAN) so I went ahead and booked it now.

It was $99 which is the usual fare and I will probably fly cross country sometime in the second window. Therefore the voucher may be useful.

But other than rare unicorn cases like this, lots of work for very limited travel dates.

Exactly! I was specifically waiting for that 50% off sale to start for this fall but apparently this sale with multiple hoops to jump through is going to be the best they will offer.
