Do you not have any ratchets and/or extensions that have their own ball detent or retention ring? They hold these just fine.

Ratchets/extensions have have the ball. Sockets/wrenches have the detent for the ball to hold the socket on. You don't have a detent on a ratchet. No detent on the tool the ball has nothing to hold onto, which is a dumb design. But I still bought them.

I'm aware. They still hold pretty well with all my ball detent style retention mechanisms - I had to be pretty deliberate in trying to shake one off, enough so that it would've shaken off even a socket that has the detent/indent.

Metric set is perfect for working on bicycles that require precise torque specs.

Dude that left an Amazon review with photos saying they just fall out with no detent.. is he walking barefoot in his shop after losing his big and second toe?

I've had the metric version for about 10 years. Used them maybe only 20 times but when I needed one, they were the best tool for the job. No issues and do what they are supposed to do. I can't say the lack of detent was an issue or at least not one I was frustrated with. I just went to the garage and put some on 5 or so different 3/8 Craftsman, Pittsburgh, and a single old MAC extension and they do not fall off. Even did 2 different wobbles and it held good. There is not a tight grab but I can swing and flick the extension around with some force and it is not flying off. I'm sure I could get it to fly off if I tried hard enough but at that point I bet it would also fly across the garage. No doubt a detent would be better. Not doubting the people that claim they slide off, maybe the QA is lacking or some extensions or the feet are eventually worn more then others.
