Buy these types of machine from Amazon, even if they are a bit more expensive. You may need to return one and Amazon makes it a whole lot easier. I'd post links but SD mods would just delete them.

I bought a mini PC from alixpress with Intel N95, 16GB DDR4, 512GB SSD for $78. It has slower RAM and only one NIC but double RAM and SSD that aren't soldered on. Prices seem to be going down.

Pfsense can run on most ancient hardware so it would be helpful as to what you can expect to get when you buy this hardware. Does this support 1gb internet speed? Does this support IDP/IDS at 1gbps?
