NCM battery chemistry, not LFP (LiFePO4) for those looking.

NVM batteries life is only about 1/3 of the LiFePO4, correct?

800 cycles to 80% capacity.
That means if you drained the entire battery once a week, it would take about 15 years to reach 80% effective capacity.

And once a day would make it 2 years.
.. which is what I'm looking for. I guess stick to lfp

That's a ton of backup for 1800. Especially since this qualifies for the tax credit bringing it down to $1260+sales tax on 1800. 31.5c watt

Which proves my point.
Seems like the first comment you made here.. Where's the point you made which got self-proven?

What do I search or can you give me more info about the tax credit?

https://www.energystar.gov/about/...technology

It's a bit difficult to search because there WAS a tax credit before this year that was similar (but didn't include portables AND required more KWH I think plus other weird differences). Also this says "rentals do not qualify" but that is saying "A landlord can't install a system in a rental and qualify" not that "people who rent can't buy portable units". That is explicitly stated somewhere else from the government websites.

It's only 4kWh. The average home, to put in context, uses nearly 30 kWh per day.

It sounds like you don't realize 4kw is not a lot of power, most homes use many times that much every single day. You couldn't grow your medical marijuana with this, not if you were using a 1kw HPS like you should be.

What is your daily use case? I'm trying to figure out how these can make my life more efficient. How do others use these since they can't power a home for long?

Since the Texas sun is cooking us, I'm trying to run a window ac to cool just 1 room in the house. I have free electric 8pm to 6am so I can charge the battery for free. I also supercool the house at night which lasts till about 1pm until the need for AC arises again.

What I really seem to need is a battery with UPS function and a long cycle life. 3kw seems like a good sweet spot as that's where the battery tax credits start.

BTW 15kw would be ideal and would make my electric bill close to zero. I pay about $1500 per year so a 15kw system would take too long to justify the initial cost for me.

ok, some rough thoughts.

a 3.6kwh lfp battery like the ecoflow max pro + 1600w of solar panels (4 panels) might get you through 6am - 8pm for about $3000 ($2000 after tax credits) and then you recharge at night. The ecoflow handles all the solar input for you.
