Bought mine over a month ago from Walmart for same price so this isn't a new deal.
Not true about not shipping to tax free states - mine was shipped to Oregon which is a sales tax free state.

I believe any/all of them. All three carriers are owned by Verizon and follow their unlocking policy.

Does this mean I have to pay for a line service for 2 months until it unlocks right? Still a good deal I think

just go to their website and click on plans, all the plans are $15/month for 3 months right now, so $45

heads up if you have amex, check your offers, I had a $25 off $45 at mint mobile on my platinum card
That's not how I am reading it on the Straight Talk website. Their plan is $45 per month. If you sign up for their auto-refill, then you get a discounted price of having it for $42.50 per month. Either way, you are not getting away with $45 to cover a full 3 months. To meet the minimum of two months so that you can unlock the phone, you are looking at an extra $90 on top of the price of the phone.

There are a few cheaper plans I see listed, but nothing that indicates where it is just $15 a month.

Are you sure? Based off the link listed on the first page of this thread, it looks like you need 60 consecutive days of active service.

"For Apple devices activated with new TracFone service on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, the device will be automatically unlocked sixty (60) days after activation"
That says nothing about having to have service for 60 days, yes I'm sure that 1 month is sufficient. There's a $30 plan on ST or you could look at the other thread to see how to do it on Tracfone for $15.

If I am getting a new line with a new phone number, do I also need to pick up a sim card kit with this?

Comes with sim which needs to be used to qualify phone for unlocking. Phone IMEI is linked to sim.

Can't activate to use on T-Mo till phone is unlocked, need to buy a plan & wait 60 days. Plenty of info in thread.

If I buy the phone via Walmart and get the TracFone basic talk and text $19.99 plan (90 days validity from Tracfone's website), will the phone automatically unlock in 60 days? Also, what does 'activation' mean? Is it just inserting the sim in the phone and making a couple of calls? Can I use my friend's TracFone sim to activate this phone to start the unlock process/counter?

Me too. I picked up the 2nd Gen At&t Prepaid SE about 6 months ago when Wally cleared them out but ended up selling it and grabbing the Metro Iphone 11. Now I wanna do the opposite because I really like the small size of the SE.
