Creality has the Sonic Pad on sale for $124 with the code ZKSP15N (instead of $159).

The Sonic Pad will work with just about any 3D printer on which the Klipper firmware can be installed.

Why would you want to use one?
Klipper allows you to print faster and with better quality using features like resonance compensation, which reduces ringing artifacts on 3D prints and allows for higher acceleration values.
The acceleration sensor required for resonance compensation is included with the Sonic Pad.
It can also be used to control up to four 3D printers connected to the Sonic Pad via the web interface.

Profiles for the most common Creality printers are preconfigured. You can also import a printer.cfg file for any other printer.

Recently the source code for the Sonic Pad was released. There are also alternative operating systems for it now, for example there's a version of Debian for it on GitHub.

Technical Specifications:
  • Display: 7" 1024x600 IPS with multi-touch
  • CPU: T800 64Bit
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Storage: 8GB
  • WiFi: 802.11 b/g/n
  • USB: 4x USB 2.0
  • Ethernet Port: 1x 100Mbps
  • Accelerometer Interface: 1
  • Rated voltage: 12V

I have an FLSun V400 with the FLSun Klipper pad. Klipper is a game changer for speed, quality, and ease of use. The web interface is complete enough that the only time I physical touch the printer is for loading filament.

Good deal. I've been eyeing this for a while now, but haven't pulled the trigger since the pad costs more than my 3D printer itself.

I use Octoprint, which was mostly free back when you could get Raspberry Pis. I'm not sure what this does that the octoprint doesn't but if you have a spare Pi lying around, I'd give it a look: https://octoprint.org/

I ended up returning it. Apparently it's not just a tablet running Klipper. It's a forked and nurfed version of Klipper that will be a nightmare to use if you decide to move away from Creality's product line. No thanks.

Octoprint is more for monitoring while Klipper (which the sonicpad interfaces with) is a different firmware that allows you to print faster due to having an advanced control system. It also gives you a nice web interface to monitor and manage the printer remotely.
