Some of these Lego idea sets are kind of interesting but I'm starting to lose the concept of Lego making these kinds of "premium" products with better packaging and much higher prices. Saturn V made sense, and the space shuttle discovery and the botanical pieces, but a Lego globe for $185?

To each their own and I hope this funds more projects like this that I would want to support by purchasing.

It came from the Ideas line, so someone submitted it, and it reached a certain community support threshold. Lego just approved it for production.

Some of the ideas sets are more for the novelty than others, but I like that they're taking chances on community submissions and thinking a bit outside their own box. Most if not all have been largely successful. But they do seem to be catering to a wider range of interests.

I will admit I'm certainly not as vested in the line as I originally was.
