Lamy converters are $3 on Amazon, I use the extra fine with waterman or pilot ink as my daily writer.

I bought a bunch of these before. The ink was crap and kept clotting. S pilot g2 is much better.

A good starter/basic/daily/regular use fountain pen is the Muji one with the cartridges (which can be used for org others with an adapter). It's solid aluminum & minimalist in design, under ~$15…
