So you knowingly sold a store a defective electronics item but you think it's them who is the problem?

You guys can just order these through valve Refurbished as of today. No need to deal with GameStop.

Deck is so good. Get the cheap one and update the m2 storage watching one of the many youtube videos. That way you can check the inside for issues while you are there.

Linux desktop is great to do just futz around great apps and I like using Edge there! I have a 128gb SD card setup to boot to windows 11 without a hitch for work. Once you have the bootloader boot to the SD card it keeps on booting to SD until you remove the SD card, or just tell it to stop again in bootloader. So it just decides it is a windows device until you tell it to stop. Windows 11 runs flawlessly now, but I really do prefer the SteamOS. I can't believe how put together it is. So game centric! It is crazy Valve did this.

Just crazy. I can get Forza 5 running in Deck mode no problem at 56-60fps nice and smooth. Just love it. You have to get Forza 5 seasonal cars in a week and when you are on vacation you can still get them after the day is done. Diablo 4 runs smoothly at 40fps high settings. You can usually figure out the right settings to make anything look great on that smaller screen.

I have a 16 core 3070 with 4k and would rather run on deck at 720p all day.

For that pricing, might as well get a Pro membership and use the sign up bonus/monthly points. Then you also get points after you purchase the Deck.

The 'Pro Price' is decent and probably worth the risk. Hell, you might end up with almost new unit.

But I'd be a little hesitant about GameStop's "refurbishing" of a device that most of their staff has never seen before. Their refurb process on standard consoles is purportedly powering it on and making sure it comes with all the cables. I cannot imagine them handling a literal computer any more thoroughly than that. Luckily the Steam Deck's have not been notorious for certain failures (like the Switch) so there is less cause for concern with specific issues. Also Valve is a LOT easier to work with as opposed to Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo. They even have OEM replacement parts for sale AND have videos showing you how to replace them.

But if you can wait...might be better to buy a new Deck the next time Valve has a big sale (which seems to happen 3-4 times per year).

Speaks the truth! And I wouldn't want to be stuck with $400 of in store credit at GameStop either. You'd be better off disputing the credit card transaction if it came down to this.

I recommend buying the 64GB, add a good Samsung micro SD and/or your own SSD.

Zero in my area (St Louis). There are smaller towns within a couple hours drive that have them.

I just read an articles in multiple places that Valve is selling refurbished decks. I have a feeling these are actually from Valve's Refirb process.

Can't seem to do online nor even store pickup so can you at least update the title that this is in-store only?

The only store near me is in a huge mall and I doubt there'd be any left by the time I checked.

GameStop hasn't accepted Steamdecks as trade ins so these are most likely all from Valve. I'm assuming from people sending back Steamdecks they had problems with. Valve probably refurbed them themselves, but since they haven't sold any refurbs on their own site, partnered with GameStop to unload them.
