This unit adds two analog sticks, but the games you'll be able to run on it will only take advantage of one stick at most (PS1 games). Anything on a newer console will require much more powerful hardware to get them to run smoothly.
So, either pick up an RG35XX/Miiyoo Mini+ and be happy with your selection of PS1 or older consoles, or get a better upgrade like the Retroid to be able to run more consoles.
If you want hardware mode/2x upscale you will want to be using duckstation on Android with Vulkan. Then its 99% smooth. 100% smooth if you do 1x.
