The only requirement for unlocking is to activate the phone then wait for 60 days. There is no need to pay for the 2nd month unless you care about the points for the reward program. (Used to be good, but I think the reward program becomes a lot worse since the Verizon acquistion)

For android phone, you will have to request the unlock code from their online unlock portal. They will ask you for some information to verify eligiblity then ask you to give them your email address. The unlock codes and unlock instructions will be sent to the email you provided. After that, all you need to do is to dial a combination of numbers to access the unlock menu, enter the unlock codes, then reboot to get the phone unlocked.
These are $50 phones,
I use Tracfone which is a "sister" brand of Total. This is the site that I use to request an unlock code when my TF Android phones became eligible for unlocking. Someone on Reddit when answering a question about unlocking a Total phone posted the same link: https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/w...BIS9nQSEh/

I wonder if you have to keep/pay service for 60 days or can you pay for the 1 month only and phone self unlocks after 60 days?

for total, paying one month is all you need
at least with iPhones that's how it works.
you text "Unlock" to 611611 and it tells you when it will be unlocked

I personally haven't tried with android devices.
I know some have an app to request an unlock.

I totally forgot. I did do some android and flip phone unlocks via tracfone and total and used the portal. yea, definitely easy to do and no 2nd month is needed.

Anyone know what year the moto g 5g is? The pics make it look like the 2022 version, but the specs look like the 2020 version (Snapdragon 750G).

Probably the 2022 version and they forgot to update the specs. However, the 2020 version of the phone is actually better specs but older version of android.

These phones are pieces of junk. Don't waste your money. I have tried Moto G 5G and Samsung A14. Really bad and slow. Go with iPhone, my XR still running so smooth after 5 years.

is the 4 for $100 a better deal than visble wireless $25 plan? Visible has no taxes but unsure which service is better.

I cannot comment on the service, but after skimming through the plan details, I do see a few differences between the Total and Visible plans. Total 4 lines for $100 comes with Disney+ and you get 4 phones for free but only gives 10GB hotspot data (per line?). Visible $25 plan doesn't require you to have 4 lines. It gives unlimited hotspot data but you don't get free phone from them.
