For anyone truly interested:

This is still a very solid emulator, and one of the better vertically oriented ones (the shoulder buttons, though obnoxiously clicky, are comfortable to use with no modding)...at least once you install ArkOS or 351Elec.

With that said, there are definitely better choices in this price range right now. Unless you *need* an analog stick for the game you'll be emulating the most, I would recommend the 35xx (with garlic os) or the Miyoo Mini Plus (with Onion OS) over this device. Basically the same performance (technically the 351 can do *some* dreamcast and probably handles DS and PSP games better than the Miyoo or the 35xx can.... but the experience with Garlic and Onion is FARRRR better (Auto savestates when you short press power and goes into sleep mode.... waking takes you right back into the game you were playing with no delay!)

i got this for my sister. she plays mostly game boy - game boy advanced games really well. it also WILL play ps1 but you need to understand reading text on ps1 games IS SO HARD. its perfect to play pokemon on and she uses it ALL the time. i have vision issues and even the screen was a little to small for me for even game boy. over all its an out dated but still good unit. please check out "ETA PRIME" and "retro game corps" on youtube they have great video's on this device and way better ones. if you want the best hand held experience get a steam deck. the 64gb one and then buy a 1tb ssd and a 512-1tb sd card and you will be able to emulate pretty much up to PS3 / 360, and pretty much all newer pc games on lower settings but it is a blast. also plays switch games

This is my favorite 4:3 display handheld. It's so comfortable in the hands. It's large compared to its competition but that's what makes it so great. It's not heavy. The wood color looks great and has a nice texture, neither grippy nor slippery.

I wish it were real wood, so there was a chance I could get a splinter. The danger is exciting!

I have this device.

After installing a custom OS the thing runs great up through PS1. It's a great machine, function-wise. Anbernic really makes high quality machines, especially the controls/buttons/sticks and overall feel. The processors are always pretty old, but they run retro stuff fine as long as you aren't looking for RECENT retro.

That being said, I regret purchasing a "vertical" device. I wish I had purchased one of the devices that is shaped like a Gameboy Advance. Being nostalgic and an old fart, and buying my very first retro machine, I figured I wanted something shaped like an oldschool Gameboy. But ergonomically this was the wrong decision, especially trying to use thumbsticks. and shoulder buttons (which really are as good as they could be on here, but still not great).

Also I would not buy from this seller. You can buy directly from Anbernic. They run sales all the time. This price is not particularly slick, especially for such an older device (got mine quite a while ago).

Pass, might as well get the much better 353v for not much more and will run PS1 at 2x unlike this one.

This has a similar form factor to the GBA SP (minus the hinge.) Agree that controls on the side of the screen like the GBA are preferable, but it's still not bad unless you have giant hands.

The wood version looks appealing, but I'm concerned it might be prone to termite damage.

I got 128gb miyoo mini plus v2 from aliexpress ampown store. Shipped out of Los Angeles and arrived 4 days later. Paid around $70, claim of 25k games on SD card is misleading since alot are repeats of difference versions of same game. And Chinese versions of games
Just bought a much better samsung 128gb microsd and plan to install onion OS
