While these are reliable, dual hose units - the newer Midea Inverter based units are more efficient, quieter and move a whole lot more air.
Own both the Whynter ARC-14s in storage now as backups, as well as the 14k BTU Midea units, which have replaced the Whynters at our house.

It's hard to describe how much better the Midea units are - soft ramp up for the compressor, and running at fractional compressor capabilities to maintain room temperature - the inverter compressor control is fantastic. Additionally, the Mideas are wireless enabled - you can set schedules with the app, and control them remotely. The Wynters are just hard ON at 100% capacity or OFF - there is no middle ground with them, but they are fine units - just older, less efficient technology.

I have one of those refurbished Toshiba and haven't had a problem with the ac. The Toshiba is quieter than this one and cools down my living room pretty quickly. I don't think this is a inverter compare toToshiba which can save you money in the long run.

The Toshiba/rebranded Midea refurbished inverter one on woot that everyone is talking about is actually dual hose even though it looks like a single. It's a hose inside another much bigger hose so it's still two airstreams. So I'd believe it if the efficiency is just as good or better than this Whynter. That and the heating and wifi integration on the Toshiba work pretty nicely.

Sweet thank you. In for 1. I was debating going for that refurbished Toshiba in woot but this is a much better deal. My office over the garage has been suffering this summer.

Fair point. I think I was mainly making sure it was dual hose. Anything we use in that office will be an improvement.

I just got a one hose portable unit from Best Buy (Insignia) for about $100 less. It works very well and I live in a VERY humid area. I have a dehumidifier with no output air hose, so it just blows that hot air inside. I am tempted to get this and return the Insignia one, but my AC was just replaced 2 years ago and this should really only be back up. I don't know if the extra $100 and returning my current one is the best option.

Looks like the price is way over retail on Amazon. Home depot sells them for $499 at full price(on sale for 449)

Still a better deal on Amazon as OP listed. If you don't need the heat option this is probably better than the Toshiba since its new.

I bought 2 of the Toshiba's on the woot deal. They worked great but never know what you get when they are refurbished.

Thank you OP, I bought one at Home Depot for $450 last week. Just retroactively pricematched with customer service. You just saved me $100 + tax.

The Toshiba is a rebranded Midea fyi. Also didn't it include heat? Loved mine but got one of the Midea U shaped window units and sold the Toshiba instead.

inverter is incredible

Does the inverter really save that much? Would think with dual hose this would be significantly more efficient price wise. I have several units but none dual hose, been thinking about it but my single hose ones do the job

I save a lot of money by just putting up a motion sensor sprinkler on my garden hose and every time I walk through the living room it hoses me down

Toshiba one is the same as Midea one from Costco. And yes it's dual hose, I bought from from last woot sale. It's good.
