It's better to buy coffee beans from a local roaster, and not from a supermarket or a big brand.
15-15-15 Coffee Rule
15 minutes: The time it takes for coffee grounds to start losing freshness after grinding.
15 days: The time it takes for roasted coffee beans to start losing freshness after roasting.
15 months: The time it takes for green coffee beans to start losing freshness after harvesting.
But, if you are buying coffee beans from an online supermarket anyway. In this case Lavazza is my favourite brand, and "Qualita Oro" my favourite variety.
"Qualita Oro" and the one in this deal ("Espresso Italiano") are normally the same price.
$13.77 is a very good price.

In any case, I personally think this is the worst coffee Lavazza makes and is no deal at this price.
Some ways to experiment are expensive, complicated and time-consuming (for example: purchase a manual level espresso machine, an expensive coffee grinder, play with grinding size, tamp ground coffee into the portafilter, etc).
Other ways are simple are cheap or even free: for example, create your own blends. And this is what you did.
Maybe, the down-votes are not because of the meaning of your comment, but purely because they did not like you mentioning the name of their Lord in vain?

Yeah, but I'd rather not have sugar vs chocolate to keep it healthier. Anyone eat beans directly and have any recommendations for brand that isn't coated in something şweet?
