Looks like Amazon is matching Walgreens' clearance [walgreens.com].
The cards are obviously phased out over time, but are really helpful for kids starting out.
As an example, the first level has you drawing a card and moving a piece that matches the card. Then you have a hand of 3 cards, and you choose which piece to move from your hand.
Some concepts are also held back, like check and en passant - these are more advanced, confusing concepts for kids just starting out.
All in all, I really love this set for teaching kids to play chess, I can't really think of a better way of doing it. My now 6 year old has been using it for a year or so. She doesn't have the strategy, but she loves using the cards and playing.
Taught my 4.5 year old how to play. He learned pretty quickly though and didn't need the cards within a couple play sessions. However, the cards are still a nice touch as a handicap. He's 6 years old now and for example we play where he doesn't use cards (normal free control) but then I draw 5 cards and I'm handicapped to only being able to use the cards to move. Then I keep adding more cards to my hand to decrease the handicap if he consistently beats me. Eventually we'll just move to normal chess on both sides.

I had a problem getting it to add to my cart. I ended up logging out of Walgreens. Logged back in and it allowed me to add it. Hope that helps.
