This is a cool motherboard and I'd be tempted to use this as a Linux desktop with a GPU dedicated for a windows vm but... I'm not at all sure about EVGA bios updates given the tentative communication they've provided about the future of their company

You should not get downvoted for this. For those not aware, EVGA was driven in the past with ~85%+ of their revenue coming from their sales of Nvidia GPU's. They announced late last August that they would no longer be making those cards and their revenue has shrunk and they have been losing people to other opportunities.

This is a great price for this board, but it is not a board for everyone and the lack of certainty about the company's future should give the average user pause when considering purchase of any EVGA product. It's sad the state that EVGA is in.

Yes, it does. Currently running Bios rev 2.13 on my 13600-kf

When you buy mobo it should have version 1.xx. My suggestion, buy/borrow a 12th gen, insert cpu and flash each of the three bios to 2.00, 2.08, and 2.13

Once done, insert 13th gen and then you're set.

Could you tell us how lanes are shared between PCIe x4, M2_3, and U.2? the manual isn't very helpful. Thanks.

Per all the information available, there will be no Z890 for the LGA1700 Refresh coming in the fall.

The issue is that EVGA is loosing resources and as a result, there is concern that an lga1700 14th gen CPU may not be supported on this board as the bios team is likely leaving/gone.

This MB is the same price as several of the z690 and 12700k combos lately. So are people buying this for better overclocking? Brand Loyalty? Serious question as I feel I'm missing something.

This will probably be a collectors item soon. And this z690 is probably better than most mid range z790 or b760 boards.

Is NewEgg going to send you a broken motherboard and then when you ask for a RMA return blame it on you mishandling it and deny your claim? Because thats what they literally did to thousands of people last year.

Intel has the resources to (one day) build badass cards and they APPEAR to be pushing more and more into that market with the ARC line. EVGA knows the gamer market like the back of their hand and could help them catapult forward (as well as save their own GPU division). Sure Nvidia has a significant head start but lets face it, they've been undermining their own distributers for years and having a new player on the field would be a good thing for all of us.

Is anyone else crossing their fingers that EVGA joins forces with Intel's GPU line?

Doubtful, since the EVGA's CEO wants to retire and not sell the company.

Revenue but not profits. IIRC PSU's was there largest Profit source. The GPU that Invidia sold to the 3rd parties they also controlled sell price while for the most popular lines they competed with the 3rd parties. One of the bigger reasons EVGA went "F This I'm out" in regards to graphics cards.

EVGA profits were largely from everything but GPU's. They are a good company. I wouldn't think twice about supporting them.
