In this context the seams would be plastic welded through heat or sonic welding. Will probably hold in condensation/ice if the seams work as intended.

Used in medical applications for over 10 years, Microban is registered with the EPA. NSF has also approved it for use in food and splash zone areas and food processing equipment.

Many ice machine companies incorporate Microban in their machines and bins to reduce bacteria in the moist environments. Many cutlery companies use it in their plastic handles so that do not become a haven for contamination. Even equipment companies such as Globe Slicers, Hobart, Vulcan, and others use Microban in the plastic portions of their equipment. Other products using Microban include Metro, Cambro, Carlisle, and Rubbermaid.

Will not buy... Microban® antimicrobial protection ...in a food cooler
Luckily for you, there are plenty of options that do not prevent bacteria, yeast, mold, fungus or other surface contaminating microbes for you to store your unwrapped food in.

Is Microban harmful to humans?
Microban antimicrobial additives are engineered directly into materials and surfaces. Therefore, using products protected with Microban technology does not result in user exposure or transmission directly into the environment in the way that products like disinfectants or liquid antibacterial soaps can during use.
Has anyone shared with you what plastics are made from?

Anyone have a guess on internal volume (for those of us who don't measure things in "cans")? 10 quarts? More? Less?

12 - 12oz cans are 144oz and the volume ratio of a parallelpiped around a cylinder is 4/pi, so the minimum volume is 184oz or 5.7 quarts. I'd round up and add a little for clearance and it's likely around 6.5 quarts.

Seems like it would be priced at $20 similar to coolers I got from Costco. Definitely wouldn't pay the full $38 for this.

The weak point of this cooler is the zipper. Loaned it out for a canoe trip and it was destroyed.

Thanks OP, ordered 2. This 12 can cooler is a little taller and more narrow than most 12 can hard-liner ones so it works well for my unique purpose of fitting it in a file crate. Not a fan of the zipper top (love the velcro zipperless kind) but can't beat the price.

Was going to ask about this. I had a similar Ozark Trail cooler 5 or so years ago and everything was great except the zipper was complete trash and broke after one use. Looks like it is still trash.

Companies (like Yeti) sell zipper lubricant. I'd guess that would reduce the risk of breaking these waterproof zippers.

I have it, was the first of the wally-world ones I bought, now have the 30 can tote, the one just like this with the hard clasp and hard shell, and the 30-ish can backpack.
its big enough for several gallons of milk.
The zipper is NOT waterproof - but decent (have others with waterproof zippers - can you say hold this end while I pull at this other end)...
Does work well - not rotomolded level - but darn close. Ice for days - but cleaning it out of slag water is accomplished only by tipping.
I prefer the tote and the backpack - tote has better access - but this one keeps cold a bit longer (several hours more). The hard cased one with the single clasp is the best - but it's rigid and more $$$.
For twenty bucks - its a good deal - you're not going to get anything close for that price.

I also have an RTIC, a BMX, and a plethora of old school coolers - and although the RTIC is best - the extra few hours of ice on day three/four/five - doesn't justify the cost.

Just my $.02 from he cheap seats... I'm an insurance adjuster - I load a cooler everyday, and for overnights, I take several (one for the front seat, one for the back, one in the bed - with items coming out at specific times... Have nutritional harassment that require I carry certain items...

I have this one and the RTIC one slightly bigger than this as well. The one thing I noticed was the insulation on the top and sides of the RTIC was much thicker than this one. But bang for the buck this seems to be probably worth the price of admission. But the RTIC is several times more expensive (even more so now, they used to run a ton of specials before they started showing up in retail stores so they now need to protect their pricing to protect some of their retailers).

I would say that for $20 it's worth it. But you won't get the same performance as some of the pricier ones. I would say great for a road trip where you can add ice. Maybe even camping adding every other day. Or if you pack a few meals in for work outside.

That is a weird concept. Are there any articles about this leeching into food?
