After the latest firmware update (something you can't do on the gsync one), there is no reason to buy the gsync version over this. I have this monitor and a 3080 ti. It's an amazing monitor I have no complaints.

many websites put the dwf way ahead of the gsync version

Looks great! But when I first set it up the colors felt a little oversaturated (granted I never used an OLED before)
The pixel shift is noticeable to me but nothing killer.
However, the pixel refresh is annoying. I use it as my work monitor and am at it at least 8hrs a day, which means it will need to refresh twice -- once being right in the middle of my workday when I am busy well, working. If I cancel the refresh, it won't run by itself as I never put my PC in standby mode.
I did set up a screensaver to run a blank black screen, if I step away for more than 5 mins. Chances are, if I don't come back within 5, I won't come back for a while. Makes sense to have my screen cleared just in case.

That's a pretty strong trade-off. The DW also gets brighter in HDMI and has a slightly higher max refresh rate.
The DWF is definitely better for console gaming and the upgradable firmware and fan improvement is enticing. I certainly wouldnt pay $200 more for the DW, but I did pay $60 more.
I can hear the fan in a quiet room after a long session of gaming on my DW, but it's much less than the sound of my PC and is not bothersome to me.
Further, the exceeding amount of reports of DWF coil whine, the inability to Windows to natively detect the DWF's HDR 1000 firmware (because Dell won't admit this can't be fixed without the G-Sync module).
That shit was fixed with the latest firmware. I have this monitor and it's silent. Do you have one you can listen for coil whine? I didn't think so.
The biggest upgrade though is with the pixel response which is damn near as good as a CRT. I'm now totally sold on Oled for gaming and won't be going back. Also, I'm happy about the Glossy screen which makes everything super crisp.

Paired with the Amex "spend 599 or more, get $120 back."
Also purchased the extended four-year warranty from Best Buy, as it does cover burn in and I don't want to worry that much about it. It was $150. If you pricematch, it's really only $50, we'll worth the piece of mind, in my opinion.
Compared to the G-Sync one (which I returned) I couldn't tell the difference with just 10 extra FPS. This does have FreeSync, which works well.
I got used to the weird text display quickly. I also use it for work. Sometimes I feel like it's too bright. Personally really recommend it, just not from Dell.
So tell me, what's the benefit of using an OLED over IPS if it's just for work?
Did you get cb? Mine didn't work but it seems like it should've..

2nd, "just for color work" implies that one can't see how dramatic a difference in the viewing experience is ( granted, w/ the exception of crispness of small text on some OLED panels [ I had a 13" OLED Alienware a handful of years ago and text clarity was great ), and is unable to appreciate how luxurious the experience is for imo, pretty much all other use cases
Here's how a quick GPT put it:
Gaming: Improved response times and synchronization support for smoother gameplay.
Movie and Video Watching: Superior HDR, contrast, and black levels for an immersive experience.
Graphic Design and Video Editing: High color accuracy and wide gamut for precise visual work.
3D Modeling and Animation: Accurate color and contrast enhancing visual representation.
VR and AR Development: Fast response and crisp display for immersive and responsive development.
Collaborative Work: Wide viewing angles allowing for consistent visuals from different angles.
Medical Imaging: Potential suitability for specialized imaging with color precision.
Financial Trading: Clarity for data visualization in real-time trading environments.
Photography Editing: Enhanced color control for professional photo retouching.
Digital Art Creation: Precision in color rendering for digital artists.
Scientific Visualization: Suitable for rendering complex scientific data and simulations.
OLED's unique characteristics can make it suitable or superior for these computing scenarios compared to traditional IPS panels
