This tester sucks. Turns on by itself, eats up batteries. I'll hear it randomly beep when it's just sitting in my toolbox untouched. I'm an electrician and I've used Flukes and Southwire testers and never have I used so many batteries.

reading the negative reviews here, I must say surprise me.
I have 3 of these never had a problem with any of them.
The small flashlight is very handy as I primarily use it in attics.
I did have one with a laser pointer that broke easy though.

This tester sucks. Turns on by itself, eats up batteries. I'll hear it randomly beep when it's just sitting in my toolbox untouched. I'm an electrician and I've used Flukes and Southwire testers and never have I used so many batteries.

Agreed. They turn on by themselves. And they're pretty fragile. After a couple drop the cap holding the battery will break off

I bought the voltage tester and got a replacement since I thought it was defective (it would beep if you wiggled it and didn't seem sensitive enough). The replacement was the same though so I returned it.

I own the Non-Contact Voltage. I'm just a regular homeowner but I end up using it somewhat frequently when doing little things around the house. For my purposes, it's great and I've had no issues with it at all

These testers are garbage. I have a good amount of Klein stuff, and I had one as a backup. Used it twice, then went for a third time a year later and it wouldn't even turn on.

This is true of all NCVTs due to how they work. Rapid movements like wiggling will trigger them. Luckily there's no reason to wiggle them while checking a wire.

As an electrician that owns about 15 noncontact testers this one included, I can say to just get the regular fluke one. If you're depending on these to make sure a wire/outlet isn't live before you touch it then you want it to be reliable…even then you're really still suppose to never solely rely on one of these to tell you whether or not a wire is live or safe to touch. I think on the back of the box on all these it says to double check with a meter and no to rely on the Non contact tester..though no really does that unless it's above 120

Thanks. I tried to Google that information but didn't find it. The first non contact tester I bought didn't do that, so I hadn't expected that.

Homeowners don't need to spend 2-3x on a Fluke. I've used this for years and given a few as gifts. No issues.

Southwire is shit tier, made in China and it shows. No self-respecting professional electrician would even mention it.

Klein is good value for dollar if you're not a professional electrician.
