I haven't used these but mono makes some good speakers. You could try them in your space with easy returns from Target or Amazon to see if they are for you. I imagine these would be fine at least as surrounds in a small to medium space or for LR in a small room HT setup, like a bedroom or nearfield gaming setup.

They list the woofer in inches and tweeter in mm. Really? To hide the fact it's not 1", but .78 of an inch. And they also hide the specs which are 60Hz-20kHz and 4 ohm, 83.9dB.
These are not easy to drive.
For a sub $1000 AVR, I would recommend an 8 ohm rated speaker, always try to find a 1" tweeter, and a dB rating of at least 91. Once you have these specs go demo them if possible or buy with a generous return policy.

This is like it was written by AI, a veneer of believability but ultimately makes no sense for $50 bookshelf/desktop speakers.

Agreed. And 91db sensitivity? Good luck with that in a bookshelf or satellite speaker. And before anyone mentions Klipsch, they used a different sensitivity spec than everyone else uses that makes their speakers look on paper like they're higher sensitivity. They're not.
Was wondering the same. I have a pair of the Sony's and I need another pair for a different area of the house. Wondering if anyone has experience with these mono's
