I have these and I have to replace my door lock batteries twice as often compared to Duracell.

The guy linked below did a multibrand test on AA batteries from various sources, but Kirkland wasn't among them. Amazon Basics rated best for overall value (at regular price), even though top brands Energizer and Duracell edged them out with longer life. I use these AAs in cellular linked game cameras and I've been very happy with them for the price. I can't speak to any recent manufacturer changes, but I have a set of these on the way. I hope they perform as well as the last order did.

Edit: I haven't bought the top name brands in quite a while, because they're so expensive and they rarely can be had at a good discount. These suit me just fine at a fraction of the cost, even if they don't last quite as long. I don't really notice any difference in longevity.

Can someone speak to recent quality of these? I believe their rechargeables have complaints lately they are now Chinese made in last year or two and quality on holding charge has dramatically decreased.

I used to swear by Duracell, but in my personal experience, those have gone to crap ever since being bought out by P&G. I can't tell you how many I've had leak while still in an unopened package, it's nuts.

I tried really hard to get on board with rechargeables in the AAA/AA/C/D realm, but they disappointed me in usable life between charges. Nowadays the only similar rechargeables I'll use are 18650s in applicable devices. They've done a great job by comparison.

i mainly use them in the little 10-led motion strips that are battery hungry.

10 year shelf life, so they'll keep until you need them. There are lots of devices that use 4 or 8 at a time, like game cameras and handheld GPS units. I have several wireless keyboards and mice that use them, and programmable thermostats. Not to mention other various remotes. If you have kids in the house, well that's a whole other level of battery usage.

I have 4 Zwave deadbolts that need 4x AA batteries 2x a year so that alone is 32 batteries a year. I don't use rechargeable as I need the dead battery warning and that doesn't work with rechargeables very well.
