The "list" price is $2400, but everyone sells it for $1800. The lower model YDP-145 normally sells for $1300, so the 165 at $1249 is a very good deal. I think today will be the last day for it. Until next time. This was the second time they have offered it at this price, so it seems likely that they will do so again eventually.
Earlier this year, they offered it for $1349, which was also a good deal. This one is even better.

I wondered if my aversion to the 145 was because I'm used to the Casio.
The Yamaha 165 is supposed to have a better weighted key feel than the 145, but I wish I could try it out before buying one. I was shocked at how bad Yamaha makes a $1000 piano feel. And I don't think I'm even that picky.

The GHS action on the 145 isn't very good IMHO.
I've never played the GH3 action directly on the 165 but I think it's the GH action with the third sensor. My current digital piano uses the GH action and it's nothing like a GHS action. Also, many complain that the GH action is on the heavy side.

Gh3 is slightly stiffer, and more durable than Ghs. I don't think value wise, the roland fp30x deals of recent could be beat. But there are lots of hold outs for black friday.
