I'm going through 5 year "expired" powder and cannot tell the difference. The biggest reason why they put expiration dates on stuff that doesn't go bad is so that fools like you throw it away and buy more. Expiration dates are not FDA regulated and are completely up to the company to put whatever they want on the label.

What makes food go bad? What conditions are true of dry protein powder stored in a dark container? Thinking critically is a good idea sometimes.

I'm always "abusing" these Subscribe and Save coupons and yet this offer is showing up for me.

It really is YMMV with no reasoning as to why you may or may not qualify.

Whats gonna happen? Its a powder, it isnt gonna spoil for a long time. Best buy date is not an expiration date.

It's on your first Subscribe and Save purchase. OP probably should have mentioned that.

Guess 8 bucks a pound is now the gold standard for deals this year. Kinda holding out for black friday as i still got about 60 days worth left and the 11pound bag is almost 2 years old, just expired in august.

It's worth considering how fast you can go through 10 lbs. After opening, the clock starts ticking on it going bad. Look it up yourself if you don't believe me.
How fast?

Yeah, you said this last time a similar deal was posted. It was ridiculous then, and still is.

There is no critical thinking in this post. Whether or not it is edible is not the criteria. It would be whether the proteins, the nutritional value, does not degrade.

Fwiw, I can not find any reasonable studies on this. I found one that went in depth on various criteria like browning, caking, flavor, etc, using accelerated ambient conditions for temp and humidity. With that study, shelf life was 12-18 months, and undoubtedly would be much longer under cool and dry conditions.

Unless anyone finds reputable research around the measured nutrition over time, then you're just guessing. But you won't get sick or die.
