Great versatile device, but Apple TV can things most people want from a device nowadays.
Can't side load apps into Apple TV without it being kind of a hassle but certain niche uses are great to have with the shield though. Iptv apps are much better for example.
On the other hand apple's privacy policy is much better than google's. So if that's important to you than that's something to consider.
Yes, it's an old processor.... that dominated then, and still dominates now, it doesn't need to be updated because it still does everything the Apple TV can do picture/audio wise and more! It hasn't needed another processor and the Android TV OS on my 2015 Nvidia Shield TV still gets updates to this day. You cannot say that about any other Android or iOS device eight years later.
