I have had an Ego edger for ~~4 years. If you get one, never try to go backward with the blade spinning. There is a rubber guard that can physically touch the spinning blade, and the guard will finish a distant second in that confrontation. I ruined one rubber guard when I first used the edger! Ego sent me a new one for free, once I called them.

Any generic edger blade will work that is ~ 8" X 2" X~~1/8" with a 1" hole in the blade. I had already bought 10 blades ~10 years ago that cost $1.50 each on ebay and they work perfectly, I use a bent nail to replace the cotter pin, and have had no trouble with that.

Isn't this a way better deal? Multi head tool itself, edger, and a free pole saw or string trimmer for $179: https://www.acmetools.com/ego-pow...08269.html

I got the woot deal but this still is good with the battery.

Edger works very well I think. Haven't had one for a while and forgot how much faster/better it is than using a string trimmer to do it.

Excellent deal for anyone considering buying the edger attachment, which is currently going for $139 by itself, at best. A string trimmer is more versatile, to be sure, but in terms of appearance, nothing matches a dedicated edger. Makes any weekend gardener look like a pro. The single wheel design might take a little getting used to on the first trim if you've used a multi wheel design previously. It's easily adjustable to a 3" depth, and replacement blades, including third party, are readily available.

They changed the design. It now has a blade slot cut into the rubber flap for this exact reason.

I'm at the point where I have 2 tools and just 1 battery. If I get this I'll be trying to edge, blow down, and hedge trim with one battery. Just won't work. Hm.

Is it pretty easy to switch from edger to string trimmer attachment?
