The Slickdeals community team has been working hard to make Slickdeals the best it can be for over 20 years, and new updates roll out to the community almost every week.
As a part of that effort, we'll be merging the Classic version of Slickdeals with the latest version of Slickdeals over the next 12 months.
You can anticipate the following as part of that platform merger:
If you primarily use Classic, there's no need for you to take any action. Your current Slickdeals account will remain active and will change to the current, unified experience automatically.
Millions of Slickdeals members are already using the current version of the website, which has dark mode support, improved shopping intelligence, and easier ways to engage with the community.
Change can be hard. Bringing all Slickdealers together into a single experience will enable you to continue to enjoy the latest community features and enhancements.
Thank you for being a member of the Slickdeals community!

You can anticipate the following as part of that platform merger:
- Access to the Classic version of Slickdeals will reduce over time. This process starts on August 22, 2023.
- You can expect a variety of improvements to the latest version of Slickdeals, often referred to within the community as "Redesign," specifically intended to make it easier for Classic users to transition to Redesign.
- The team of engineers and product folks managing the merger will conduct continuous interviews to make sure a variety of community voices and points of view are included. You can sign up for a 1:1 with a team member here [calendly.com].
- If you primarily use Classic, you will migrate over to the newest version of Slickdeals throughout the next year.

I'd ask anyone who is truly opposed to this change to schedule a time to talk with someone from SD one on one. Maybe, if we get enough folks to talk to them directly, maybe, just maybe, we can get them to give us a ... hmm... a Classic Clone using redesign. (?)

For instance, in this thread, the original post included some very beneficial information that the deal editor did not propagate to the FP deal post, and unless you're viewing the thread in classic view you won't find it.
so does this long time user.
I am open to change i am open to new things, but your new formats have not only been visually unappealing, but more importantly functionally useless, slower and wasted space.
I came to slickdeals b/c i could see so much i needed to quickly.
i dont come here for giant bubbly stuff that reduces the ability to read the deal and see the ratings as quickly as possible.
there is NO REASON you can't do what you want (which isn't going to improve revenue) and still provide a skin that leaves the original format as mostly intact.
This whole "Theme" is incredibly terrible for those of us who are older because of the lack of contrast and general flatness of the design. As a developer with 40 years of experience, and having studied UX over those 40 years, including the massive amounts of research by companies like Microsoft and Apple, I can tell you this "redesign" commits several terrible design sins. If your users are unhappy, how about listening to them, instead of being condescending and telling them the beatings will continue until morale improves? What I see on my 4k monitor is a wash of bright color, with terribly thin fonts that make the text also hard to read... that is, if I can find the right text, as there are no longer boundaries between posts, just floating buttons and decorations - which further add to the confusion. I see people posting about how they no longer know how to do the basic things they did in posting, which indicates you have FAILED in one of the most basic tenets of design: creating a natural flow of functionality, so that the basic tasks users need to have access to are clear and not convoluted.
We also feel like this has been shoved down our throats. Most of us hated the newer "thread" format, and while userscripts have, for me at least, somewhat made the front page at least usable, it remains a terrible experience the moment I open up a deal.
LISTEN TO US.
This site has always been community-driven, and it's clear the staff has forgotten this.
I know the devs want to make this site more modern looking but why fix what wasn't broken to begin with? Or at least ask the community for suggestions before implementation
this is why classic is always preferred by everyone here.
the ability to spot keywords we may be interested in.
you say "well then set alerts" - no , i dont want alerts coming all the time. When I want to visit the site, I want to see things I am interested in.
It's like walking around in a target, you see things on the shelf you might want to find out more about.
You want to scan shelves (pages) and then dive in from 20 feet back.
If you have to scan the shelves (pages) in tiny sections b/c of the fonts b/c your 1 ft away from it, colors and other shit in the way, then you're going to leave the store.

Should have asked your readers before you went and changed everything.
Bye!

mods, why isn't this an option?
It's one thing to have ads on the side, but this is just way too intrusive.

Some info can help the team track it down and boot them.
