I agree with you, I've cooked rice in a cheap $10 - $20 walmart/target rice cooker, a pressure cooker, an instant pot pressure cooker, a traditional Donabe, stove top in a stainless steel triple clad pot, and the biggest difference is cooking effort and clean up for the different methods.
But the biggest difference I've noticed in rice is the quality of rice. High end vs low end. I get a better rice taste, texture, consistency with a premium rice in a cheap $10 automatic rice cooker, than cheap rice in a high end rice cooker.

How you wash the rice, prep the rice, and cook the rice is a bigger difference than the cooker.

Just to add on a note: I use different types of rice, from short grain, to medium grain, cal rose, jasmine, and my favorite koshihikari rice.

I recommend trying different types of rice and seeing what tastes the best and what works for you. try different cooking methods. Good luck.
i have this model and its been great. also made in japan.
I don't understand what this post is trying to say about the rice cooker.

I have it and like it. Dont use the quick rice without having some towels laid down as it will burp out ricewater. Other than that it makes great rice, just use the "normal" rice.

Haven't had these issues after months of use, just used it to make 3 cups this morning to go with a runny egg and smoked salmon, I generally dig in right away though. Water does condensate on the bottom of the lid when using the keep warm setting for extended periods of time. If you open it soon after it completes the cook doesn't have this issue.

EDITED: Data: Micom, not INDUCTION . Not complaining at this price point, just not mentioned so far. Hope this helps.

I can attest that this is great rice cooker, especially for a family of 4. It's just enough so there is no leftover. I have been using it for 2 years when I bought it from Costco for $100. The only thing I don't like is there is a separate place to put the spatula. Usually, there is a place on the rice cooker for it. I always accidentally knock it over.

marketing, mostly.

I grew up eating rice every day out of an old Tiger 10 qt cooker, did a whole bunch of research (mainly due to a bunch of SD'ers crying how fuzzy logic is somuch better) and ended up with a top tier Zojirushi rice cooker. I've cooked indian, korean, japanese, short/long/medium, high and low grade rice - the rice cooker did not make a difference lol

The one thing that is going to make a huge difference is anyone going from microwave or stove top rice cooking to an actual rice cooker.

Why? It's a rice cooker not an Instant Pot.

If you need to ask it doesn't really matter to you. He is referencing higher end rice cookers that are basically able to adapt throughout the cooking cycle to make your rice perfect even if you messed it up. Even a rice cooker like this is overkill if you're not a household thats making rice almost every day.

This hands down. Instant Pot rice is worse then the stove top rice.
