Rescue services may be required. I just had my second external Seagate fail in the last year two days ago and have not been able to get anything off of it. Last time, I was getting errors and moved most stuff off before complete failure. This one just stopped working suddenly with zero warning. All attempts at repair have failed.

I have been using them as download drives for Utorrent. Anyone know if that is hard on the drives?

One of the most legitimate reasons for torrents is data retention.

You might want to chalk this one up as a cost of doing business.
