Thank you. Lithium ion model. I'm down to one Oral B with no back ups recently and have a ton of this style of heads. Previous one lasted 5 years. I'm concerned they are going to slowly phase out the models like this that take the old style heads with the new iO ones. With the exception of some past Sam's clearance deals this is a pretty low price. I think I saw some Sam's Club deals of the 6000s for $80 and some Costco 2 packs of the 8000s in older deals.

Okay, fine. But that deal is no longer available and some people are expressing interest in this deal that is available. Are you trying to make people feel bad either about their current deal options or that they cannot currently get as good a deal as you think you got on a deal that is no longer available?

According to Wirecutter, there is only one feature that correlates with how clean your teeth will be, and that is the 2 minute timer with 30 second "laps." Very possible to go much much cheaper than this and still get essentially the same performance. Even my entry level Oral B from Costco has unnecessary features like 3 different speeds. I wish I didn't have to cycle through them all to turn it off.

I agree. I think they're phasing these out. Same as you. I have a lot of brush heads, and I like this style much better than the IQ.

Does anyone know how this model is for the way it feels when operating? I just bought the cheaper version from costco (although as an e-toothrush not cheap overall) that looks very close to this and just turned it on. It was freakishly loud, very poorly insulated and just feels very roughly made interior-wise. Exterior, it tries to trick you like it's some high quality product, very disappointed and will be returning.

Hoping this highly thumbs-up model is quiet and refined like past Oral-B e-toothbrush i've used??

I've used the 6000 for 4 years now and the way you describe the cheaper version describes the 6000 as well. But it's still working just fine and does a good job.

The Sonicare DiamondClean that I had before the 6000 looked classier and felt better in the hand but it broke down on me within a few years. Also didn't find the shape of the Sonicare brush head to be as effective.

Haha, yes, the important thing is not going too fast, cleaning along the gum line. Everything else is extra and can be useful for some, but not needed by any means to achieve the results.

It combines oscillation, rotation and mucro-vibration while the others oscillate, rotate and pulsate. So the mucro-vibration is the main addition in terms of performance. You get the pressure sensor as soon as you get to the smart series.

Other thing is longest battery life of all the Oral B brushes. Everything else is all the added little things that could be useful but are not "needed" in any way.

The other version of Oral B will not be phased out, IO is meant to be the high end. There will always be a high end, medium and a low end.

Funny but not funny. I've got to admit though that my first time using this thing I had the same thought kind of. Not to stick it up my arse but that with the right attachment it would "do the job" if one was so inclined. This is one powerful brush and has several modes that I still am getting used to. I'm one of those old school cavemen types that don't read instructions...charge it and hit buttons until it turns on.

Anyway, glad your kids friend survived.

I just look for them on deep clearance at stores. They show up a couple of times a year. That's how I ended up with so many. I will only buy at $1.50/head. I have no experience with the generic heads.
That's some cheap head….

I don't think these would be phased out anytime soon. The iO series is a completely different style of electric toothbrush. It is basically a Philips Sonicare with round heads.
The Oral B company reps have said the old genius models are getting phased out
