Pre covid & inflation bumper plates were usually around $2/lb
$1/lb in 2023 is a very slick deal

It's practically every 10-15lb bumper plate. That's one of the reasons Rogue manufactures 5lb and 10lb "technique plates" that are hollow inside and larger plastic, made so that they can be dropped.

$1/lb is not normal pricing for bumper plates.

Question.. On the black-only versions, the steel hub appears smaller and the color ones on this listing look much larger. Do they just put rubber over the steel hub on the black versions or do the color ones really have that much larger of a core?

From the web:

"A competition bumper plate is similar to a normal bumper plate, except it features a large stainless steel insert in the centre of the plate (which is much larger than the steel ring in a normal bumper plate). This helps to reinforce the plate and prevent it from warping over time, especially when the plates are being dropped frequently. The rest of the plate is made up of high-density rubber. Competition plates are thinner than a rubber bumper plate, allowing you to fit more weight onto the sleeve of the bar."

I'm just curious if anyone has seen a deal on an Olympic or training bar, capable of handling up to about 300#.

"Everyday Essentials 10 pounds plates are NOT designed to be used ALONE."

I never thought about this, is this just this brand? I see them at the gym being used alone all the time. I sometimes use mine also alone for things that don't require a lot of weight, like if I throw them on a curl bar (I have the black Rogue Echo bumpers).

Finally! I've been waiting 8 months for these to restock. Grabbed a couple more to hopefully "finish" the home gym.

They can be used alone but not thrown on the floor like regular bumper plates bc they will crack

That bar is a decent starter but I would not trust it for 300lb+

Look for rogue boneyard bars, will last you a lifetime and a bar is one thing I would not cheap out for.

Great deal. People are still paying more than this on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace (not sure why, but they are).

I have some everyday essentials/balancefrom bumpers and the quality is solid

Seems like a good day but I'd hate to have plates that remind me of "everyday low prices"

Anyway .. anyone know the weight tolerance on these plates? Assuming maybe it's better than 3% because of the steel hub

Well, they said "they are NOT designed to be used ALONE". I'd have thought it has more to do with lateral rigidity/strength. I don't drop my weights from high up, but I also don't place them gingerly on the floor. But now I realize it's a common disclaimer with other brands as well, because people drop them even from overhead.

Looking at local classified and they're going used for like $1.50-$2/lb. I can barely believe I'm doing this, but in for a 260 set for a bit more versatility. Here goes. Kids been wanting.
