FWIW, the 9500 may not be the same rears as the one's included in the 990c

EDIT: I looked at the pictures and the rears with the 990c have front-side-top firing drivers. 9500 don't have side firing drivers

Overall the 990c setup has more drivers (11.1.4) compared to 900c+9500 (7.1.2 + 2.0.2 = 9.1.4)

So I already used up my 10% coupon in a separate purchase. The trick here is to find a large ticket item like the S95C 77" and ask the agent for a discount. Since the 10% coupon was not available, the next best coupon they offered was $200 off. They made my cart and wanted me to checkout. Instead, I added the soundbar and removed the TV and the $200 stuck.

Again YMMV.

If you check out the images and specs, Q990C rear speakers have 3 channels each (3 speakers on each rear unit) SWA-9500S is not the same.

Was able to get extra 10% off by chatting with CS, YMMV. Had them add an S95C to a custom discounted checkout cart first, then I opened a new tab to add in the sound bar and removed the TV from cart. Did not mention anything about existing EPP/EDU discounts. Only saw 899.99 price when signed into EPP/EDU, so total 809.99 before tax shipped/picked up.

I believe the rears in the 990 have more speakers than the 9500s, so you'd only get a 9 speaker instead of 11.1.4 system if you did this

I have the previous years model, 990b and love it. For me it's "close enough" to discreet with the simple wireless setup and very much a "set it and forget it" configuration.

If your an audiophile, it's probably not for you. If you want "close enough" theatre like sound and auto calibration, it's a great setup. And fwiw I use it with a Sony tv and Nvidia shield without issue with regards to HDMI cec controls and 4K dv pass through.

My favorite feature is when my kids walk in talking all loud while I'm watching something, the dynamic volume option will turn the volume up, drowning them out, and they give the 990b the side eye. 😂

Was playing around with different configurations and realized if you buy a TV, you can add the Q990C for $719.99. Then bundle that with the 10% coupon most people are getting will make that $647.99. Granted you are spending more for a TV (possible return opportunity if you don't need a new TV)

returned this and went with sonos with sub mini and two rear SLs. total was $1400 but not regretting the extra cost. Sonos beats this any day.

it just sounded better and more immersive for me. Again I am not a fanboi, I don't buy brands but only what I like experience wise. FWIW, i got arc sl from costco, sub mini openbox from best buy and two refurb SL ones from sonos. getting a $200 soundbar is one thing, but if you are going into $1000 range, might as well the get the one you really like after comparison.
