Cry Macho was such a bizarre film. I felt bad for Clint, as it seemed like an unintentional ego/vanity project that would have suited him about 20-30 years ago, but he was just far too old for the role and there were a lot of scenes where it was difficult not to notice.

For example, one of the few things I remember from it is that I felt extremely uncomfortable during a scene where a beautiful woman (probably less than half his age) is lusting after him and trying to seduce him. People throw around the word "cringe" a lot, but it truly did make me cringe and feel bad for him. He's a legend, but didn't do the film justice by casting himself in the lead.

Hard to fault such an icon though, and no doubt that's why the studio/producers didn't push back on his creative decisions.
