Pretty innovative design, has most of the bells and whistles.
The 'stability rod' is a really intriguing idea, it made me think of an issue that needs solving.
My dad's old house has really old, really overused plugs that the sockets are so 'stretched' hardly anything will stay plugged in.
They should come up with something even better than a stability rod.

It works fine, of course you loose the bottom outlet and you're only using the top one but you gain all those extra outlets and USB ports.
As for Surge Protection, the product is ETL listed, which I made sure of. Most of the issue with surge isn't the surge, but brown outs...where less electricity is coming in.
