Excellent find and repped!
Sadly, not for me due to screen flicker (PWM) which is rarely used on the ThinPad line.
Here's an in-depth review of the Intel i5 version:

Although technically 2 generations old, these 5625U/5825U CPUs are still very good, they are based on Zen 3 architecture. The 7530U and 7730U processors are just rebrands of these processors.

If you have an Amex card, check your Amex Offers for $100 off $500 at Lenovo - that makes this really slick!

Not worth the extra money. AMD has more cores. The webcam is different also. The only benefit of getting intel version is the thunderbolt port and probably higher graphics ram. Backlit keyboard.
So AMD version for sure doesn't have backlit keyboard? That's really strange if it is true.

Sad to have missed the Ryzen 7 for $499, but decided to go with the $459 version anyway, for my student. I get the extended warranty (has always been a good investment for my kids' laptops), which put it over $500 for the AmEx cashback, and the more reputable cashback site has 8% today.

The deal is dead and I want to use my AMEX reward. What do you all think about this one?

https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/la...21aes0hx00

It looks one difference is the memory, which is only 8GB on this one.

Its better get the older Latitude and Thinkpad with power port only, 90% less failure rate and 90% cheaper to repair. 2021 is all went down hill with USBC pd only

There growing reports of USBC PD failure within 3 years. I rare see power port failure in 9 years under normal conditions. Lenovo/Dell still coming up with fixes as usbc pd 65-95 watt isn't fully mature. It got so bad Apple went back to magsafe lol
I got the $499 option, but now after research about ThinkPad USB-C charging, I think I'm going to return. What would you recommend? Looking at a T470 now maybe. Still love my X230 but may be time for an upgrade.

My ThinkPad L380 is more than 3 years old without any issue with the USB-C charging but I do not plug it in all the time.

8GB vs 16GB RAM
R5 vs R7 (not as big a deal)
$449 (not enough for AMEX) vs $499(-$100 AMEX)

The RAM is soldered, so you cannot expand it.

I think this is a better option (as was posted):

Maybe it's a rare occurrence, but now I've read so many stories that I'm paranoid. Thanks for the reply.

8gb is too low might be unusable in most cases even with multiple browser tabs opened.

I placed an order on 8/27 for a $459 one and since the total was $497 w/ tax I added a filler item so the total amount of $502.xx was charged as a pending transaction. I received an email from AMEX confirming that $100 offer was triggered. However, the filler item was shipped first and I saw the $5.xx charge finalized on my card today. The laptop is still being prepared and $497 will be probably charged when Lenovo ships it. Will I still receive the $100 credit if Lenovo is splitting my transaction to two separate charges?
