Excellent find and repped!
Sadly, not for me due to screen flicker (PWM) which is rarely used on the ThinPad line.
Here's an in-depth review of the Intel i5 version:

Although technically 2 generations old, these 5625U/5825U CPUs are still very good, they are based on Zen 3 architecture. The 7530U and 7730U processors are just rebrands of these processors.

If you have an Amex card, check your Amex Offers for $100 off $500 at Lenovo - that makes this really slick!

I placed an order on 8/27 for a $459 one and since the total was $497 w/ tax I added a filler item so the total amount of $502.xx was charged as a pending transaction. I received an email from AMEX confirming that $100 offer was triggered. However, the filler item was shipped first and I saw the $5.xx charge finalized on my card today. The laptop is still being prepared and $497 will be probably charged when Lenovo ships it. Will I still receive the $100 credit if Lenovo is splitting my transaction to two separate charges?
The Amex offer terms said "Get a one-time $100 starement credit by using your enrolled eligible Card to spend a minimum of $500 in one or more purchases online at lenovo.com". So to me that means even if you made multiple separate orders as long as it exceeds $500 you will get the offer.

So I'm going to wait for others that ordered the Ryzen 7 model. Can you let me know whether you had a rather unique unboxing experience?!?

Don't think that's accurate, will confirm upon estimated delivery of a black one on Wednesday. Everywhere I have looked, pictures and videos show this series has a backlit keyboard.
Received the laptop today. Unfortunately, the $499 Black one I bought DOES NOT have a backlit keyboard. Kind of disappointed by that, but otherwise a great laptop. Will let the primary user decide whether we keep it or return within Lenovo's 30 day free return window.

Got my Ryzen 7 one in the mail today but I think I've already decided to return. Reading about too many issues with USB-C charging. Maybe I'll change my mind when I open it. Thinking of getting a used T series instead.

So AMEX sent me the e-mail saying I used/qualified for the deal. But when checking my account statement I did not get the credit and the offer is nowhere to be found. Not in my 'savings' category or in my Added to Card part. This was the whole reason why I did this deal.

You'll get the credit. There can be some lag time between an offer being pulled from Added to Card when you use it and it reflecting in Savings.

I bought the $499 but I did not get an email from AX saying I made the purchase.
I called them yesterday and they said because my purchase is pending so I need to wait up to 4 days.
Today my purchase was changed to "Plan It" but I still have not seen my offer was used.
I will call them tomorrow if it does not change the status.

I received the $499 black today, can confirm no backlit keyboard. Nothing unusual about unboxing. It needed 20 Windows updates, manufacture date of July 2023. Bottom got hot after the updates. Build quality seems quite good. With Amex offer and 11% cashback (which already tracked) my price is $345 before tax. I agree that those who qualify will get the $100 even if you need to contact customer support, I've had good luck with Amex so far (Blue Cash Preferred). Great price for a good laptop. Thanks OP.

Received the Ryzen 7 today and I loved it. I forgot how great it is to type on a thinkpad keyboard.

One helpful note: The Fn and Control key on the keyboard is reversed compare to a typical layout. I switched it using Lenovo Commercial Vantage software that came with the laptop. Supposedly one can switch it from bios settings as well.

Anyways, I am happy about it. For $360 out the door ($530 including tax - $100 Amex - $55 Cashback - $15 IBM rewards), this is as good as it gets for me. A business class, convertible, touch-screen laptop with a decent CPU bench mark, 16GB Ram and 512GB hard drive with a good IPS display. It is a good laptop with not much compromise, considering the budget price. I should be good for 5 years. Thanks OP.

I got the $499 option, but now after research about ThinkPad USB-C charging, I think I'm going to return. What would you recommend? Looking at a T470 now maybe. Still love my X230 but may be time for an upgrade.
Keep it if you use it seldom use, stick with 65 watt charging and you have a spare. I think Lenovo resolve some bandaid of it with bios reduce it 20-50% defective rate.

I reading that the early 95 watt usbc chargers were so bad lenovo did a massive recall on 90% of thinkpads. Dell business had similar issue with their usbc docks. Thanks to other SD members for pointing this out. Out-of-warranty repairs amount $300-500 since usbc is solder on MB.

Nearly all ThinkPads have defective USB-C ports: What to do now | Tom's Guide [tomsguide.com]

I never had barrel ports issues with 20 laptops the last 23 years from Lenovo, Dell, Sony Vaio, Toshiba, Acer, HP, Asus, Gateway, Apple. Charging port was never an issue until usbc pd. The extremely repair would cost $5 on most classic laptops vs $300 on usbc laptops.

when I use usbc charging it get super hot , always prefered the barrall charger. no way a power chip can handle power, data, audio for that long for 5-10 years. YMMV

My fav is Dell 7290, 7490, 7390, 7400, 7410 with Intel 8th or 10th starting at $200 for 16gb/512gb. You might something similar on Lenovo Outlet, Woot, HP outlet
