I'd skip this one and stick with the proven winner: the 7.25" Nisaku Hori-Hori Japanese Stainless Steel standard by which all others are judged. Worth the extra few dollars.
She learned this from making shivs in prison. :-)
I own a Nisaku Hori-Hori Japanese Stainless Steel garden knife for 5 years, It has never rusted even I sometimes left it outdoors for 2 weeks. It has never bent after digging hard clay soil for 5 years. It is still very sharp to cut roots. I don't have direct experience on this Martha Stewart garden knife. But I can say that Nisaku Japanese Stainless Steel garden knife is 10x better than the low-quality garden tools made in China or Vietnam. This Martha Stewart garden knife may be OK for occasional gardeners for its low price. But if you are a serious gardener, Nisaku Japanese Stainless Steel garden knife will keep you happy for many years.

All of these martha stewart products are garbage, weak.
That's completely false. I have multiple Martha Stewart hand gardening tools and other garden based stuff from her original line in Kmart. They are 15-20 years old at this point. Never broke and I use them most days during gardening season. I'm not some basic level gardener either. 💁 ♀️

I agree. Stick with a full tang construction. This and other similar Hori-Horis have barely any metal into the molded handle. They don't handle abuse well.
This one is more than half the price of the one you suggested. Is that one twice as good? I'm not familiar enough with either to know. They both seem to have good reviews.
It looks like the Nisaku with the wooden handle was just on SlickDeals from Amazon for $14.24 about 2 weeks ago.
I picked up one of the plastic handle Nisaku Hori Hori knives when ShowJoe had them on clearance and paid barely more than this MS one, and it's become my goto garden tool. Picked up a bunch of the Nisaku tools from that clearance sale and they're all amazing quality. Good quality steel, and sharp edges.
Got this. It's not -bad- per say but I think that between my current nisaku hori hori and the cheap hula/stirrup hoe I have, this does a better job than neither. Thought the void in the tip would be very useful for pulling up weeds but did not that this evening in practice.
I'll try it again tomorrow and probably end up returning. It does seem very well made for under $7 and has a nice ergonomic handle.
