You might be able to fight legally on medical necessity. For example if you had a CPAP and the HOA tries to fine the generator "keeping you alive", that's a problem.

Mine is trash. NOT REFURBISHED, looks HEAVILY USED. Oil leaking in box and scratches and scuffs all over outside of generator with sun faded labels. Looks heavily used or left outside for a long period

Contacted the seller and they were very dismissive. Just said to issue eBay Return. The item weighs almost 100lbs in packaging. They want me to load into my car, drive to a UPS, unload from my car, take my hand truck to get into UPS store for what? A refund of what I paid?

They know 100% they never inspected the item, sent an item that did NOT match their description and was NOT refurbished but instead USED (and / or returned after used and never inspected). This seller should not be trusted and buy definitely at your own risk

I do not think all of the effort to return is anywhere worth us being EVEN. And the seller knows this too which is why they DARE you to do the return process

Very similar experience and the customer service response was very telling. Basically daring me to take the time, effort, and breaking my back to return it. For what? To get my original money back? Needs to be a penalty to fraudulent sellers like this. They know these aren't refurbs and they know they don't match their description

This is a little too small to provide backup power for most homes, no?
Refrigerator and lights no problem. Definitely not a whole home gen though.

Costco has both this one @ $750 and the dual-fuel 3200/4000W one @ $850 online.

I'm fine with a gasoline version, I always just drain and/or run it dry after I'm done using it and plan on storing for an indefinite period.

And yes, I'm in the same boat - I've got power back now, but we had a close call with a tornado Thursday night.

See above; if you run it dry you shouldn't ever have a problem with fuel gumming up the works.
Lansing MI area? Are we neighbors 😂

I switched all of my yard equipment to electric so I rarely have gas on hand now. I can totally go get some but I usually have a propane tank around and would get me started if power went out in the winter and the roads were crap etc. easy to keep a tank on hand, costs $15-20. Stores easier than gas. Etc.

Bought this recently at $279 plus tax. There are things that you will need to do after receiving it. Register with Firman, call in to request for the propane hose, regulator and battery charger to be sent. These items are not included with your refurbished even though it shows included in the description. You will also need to purchase some oil for it.

My unit works flawlessly but cosmetic is scratched up and dirty.
this gen is not dual fuel or elec start, my boy.

I see the smaller 2100-watt one is on sale too and half the weight. Can it run the AC in my little trailer? It can run off of a regular 1800 watt outlet. but it might be pulling about that much. Or is that asking a lot to pull almost the full amount for a long time?

Been eyeing these for my RV for boondocking, and a rare home back up. Trying to decide if the dual fuel or electric start are worth the extra cash. Anyone have any experience with the electric start models?

Is there any reason not to go for the 4000w vs the 3200w at the same price? Looks like it weighs the same?

If you have no issue pulling a cord, I'd skip the elec start. Also I've never had a use for dual fuel, and you also get less provided wattage when running propane...really your call though if you have propane available when you need to run this.

There is a chance it could be too stressful long-term to run with the smaller 2100w generator. Some people report their generator starts shutting down prematurely when it used to be able to run on full load without issues.

Also, you can test your power needs with something like this to see how much power you're using:

Went with the 4000w dual fuel. $340 shipped. I don't care if it is blemished as long as it runs like it should. Overkill for my needs, but would rather by overpowered instead of underpowered.

With my luck the power will never go out again and that is worth $350 right there. ha. I just keep saying I need to buy one and I put it off, then the storm we just got is a good reminder how fragile our entire infrastructure is. Buy once cry once.

That cost at Costco keep creeping up, just like everything else in life. But on sale I think it is still $699. I'll take this for half price.

Saw a bunch and unsure if I need dual fuel. Like I previously posted, just need for an occasional outage and unsure of what I fully need. Any help is appreciated!
Depends on your needs and uses. Like I mentioned on another post. I don't keep gas on hand anymore but I almost always have propane. So it is worth it to me if it is a winter storm and I need to make work until I can drive on the roads. I don't live out in the boondocks. But I live on a cul de sac that doesn't get plowed til way later and I don't have a big AWD or 4WD vehicle. Not worried about heat. I put a 30k btu gas heater in the basement when i was working down there during covid since I as freezing.

Bought as an alternative/backup to my honking big Subaru. Perfect for a 10000 BTU unit during power outages.

The thing people don't realize with inverters is that the bigger the wattage, the more can be put on as it idle along - slap on the coffeemaker and it will jump but still run far quieter than a 2000 watt one. The advantage of the small ones is they sip fuel when idling more so than the larger ones so if you're just recharging the RV batteries vs using it to fire on the AC ...

How loud is this? I've been thinking about getting a small inverter generator for quite some time now, but I live in an HOA that doesn't allow generators. Can it go undetected if I put it in the backyard just to run the fridge when power is out?
