You might be able to fight legally on medical necessity. For example if you had a CPAP and the HOA tries to fine the generator "keeping you alive", that's a problem.

Mine is trash. NOT REFURBISHED, looks HEAVILY USED. Oil leaking in box and scratches and scuffs all over outside of generator with sun faded labels. Looks heavily used or left outside for a long period

Contacted the seller and they were very dismissive. Just said to issue eBay Return. The item weighs almost 100lbs in packaging. They want me to load into my car, drive to a UPS, unload from my car, take my hand truck to get into UPS store for what? A refund of what I paid?

They know 100% they never inspected the item, sent an item that did NOT match their description and was NOT refurbished but instead USED (and / or returned after used and never inspected). This seller should not be trusted and buy definitely at your own risk

I do not think all of the effort to return is anywhere worth us being EVEN. And the seller knows this too which is why they DARE you to do the return process

Very similar experience and the customer service response was very telling. Basically daring me to take the time, effort, and breaking my back to return it. For what? To get my original money back? Needs to be a penalty to fraudulent sellers like this. They know these aren't refurbs and they know they don't match their description

Lansing MI area? Are we neighbors 😂

I switched all of my yard equipment to electric so I rarely have gas on hand now. I can totally go get some but I usually have a propane tank around and would get me started if power went out in the winter and the roads were crap etc. easy to keep a tank on hand, costs $15-20. Stores easier than gas. Etc.
Not quite neighbors, but the same storm system.

Good use case though, never a bad idea to have or use an additional option that requires less TLC/maintenance. I just keep gas around for my mower - not much use for it in the winter without a gas snowblower. In hindsight I might have chosen to pay an extra $80 for it (the dual fuel model [ebay.com]).

Wicked storm. We got very lucky but areas I drove through this weekend looked like a war zone. My parents live east of me and luckily they did okay as well. They had a storm a month ago with baseball sized hail that destroyed their roof, garage doors, outdoor things. Etc.

I swapped my mower and snowblower to electric. I don't have a ton of area and I have to plan ahead a little more. I can't just pour more electricity in to it and keep going. But I love it. I used to smell so bad after I would snowblow. Now it is no issue and I let me son help with it too. So much quieter too. I did decibel tests with all of them and I don't need to wear ear protection for either anymore. The difference is crazy. But it means I never have gas on hand.

How does the 4000W unit compare with this one? https://slickdeals.net/f/16888463-champion-power-equipment-200914-4250-watt-open-frame-inverter-generator-dual-fuel-technology-385-40-at-amazon

The Champion costs a little bit more but it's brand new, better brand, more power.

How loud is this? I've been thinking about getting a small inverter generator for quite some time now, but I live in an HOA that doesn't allow generators. Can it go undetected if I put it in the backyard just to run the fridge when power is out?
If the power is out and your hoa chooses to be a @&?!$&!' About a generator I know where I would be directing my anger, and my dog's crap, and envelopes full of glitter.

Whatever the citation and fine is I would gladly accept it and use any time I had to make their life miserable.

Running a generator all the time is one thing. Running it for a power outage is different. Gotta be some exceptions in that bylaw.

Instead of having gas in a can going stale...why not get a small $10 transfer pump and get gas out of your car's tank when you need it?

I looked at that champion today and had been watching the slightly smaller enclosed version. The noise is higher on it. I think it was like ~65db and I was comparing to the other champion that was 55db. 10db more is 10x the amount of noise. So I didn't pull the trigger on it.

The 4000w here is 57db. And has a co2 sensor. And electric start. And has wheels.

There is a chance it could be too stressful long-term to run with the smaller 2100w generator. Some people report their generator starts shutting down prematurely when it used to be able to run on full load without issues.

Also, you can test your power needs with something like this to see how much power you're using:
https://www.amazon.com/P3-P4400-E...B00009MDBU [amazon.com]
You know what, I do have one of those, so I just checked how much energy it pull and it is only 1500 watts. Do you think the 2100 is enough?

Unfortunately, no exceptions. The bad thing is....when the power is out, the entire neighborhood is silent! Can hear a pin drop. Worst part is tons of old Karens that report everything. Never again will I buy in an HOA. Lesson learned.

I'm not sure how much I'd count on it ("This item has a 2-year warranty serviced by Allstate."), but I guess it's a little extra "peace of mind" since I bought this thinking it only had a 90 day warranty - the description does say 3 month manufacturer warranty.
The 3rd party warranties (Allstate, Asurion) generally work better than the manufacturer warranties do...

Not super loud. I would doubt your neighbors would hear it inside their houses. But f*ck your HOA if they're complaining during an emergency outage. if you just want to run a fridge, you can get a smaller gen but I doubt it would be much quieter.

Is the 2100 generator the peak rating? If I remember correctly, it was 2100 peak and 1700 running. If it's 2100 running, it should be fine. 1700 I would probably go bigger.

Stabil is a thing. And relatively cheap. also it's good for gens to run occasionally with a load rather than sitting for long periods.
